O'Connor Shines, But No. 12 'Cats Fall at Stony Brook

The No. 12 Wildcats dropped to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Stony Brook improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Junior quarterback Trevor Knight (Amherst, N.H.) completed a career-high 37 passes on a career-high 58 attempts for 373 yards and a touchdown. O'Connor finished with 182 receiving yards.
UNH made two field goals in its first five games and kicked three against Stony Brook, all in the first half as the Wildcats forged a 24-16 lead at the break.
Sophomore linebacker Quinlen Dean (Greenbelt, Md.) led all tacklers and matched his career high with 11.
The Wildcat offense turned the ball over three times. The defense came up with one Stony Brook turnover.
COMING UP
- The Wildcats return home to Wildcat Stadium to play Towson University next Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m.
- The Towson game is a "Real 'Cats Wear Pink Game" presented by Medtronic for breast cancer awareness.

1st QUARTER
- The Wildcats made two field goals in their first five games of the season.
- They had two more in the first period.
- Senior Max Pedinoff (Newtown, Pa.) opened the scoring with a 41-yard field goal 3:31 into the game.
- After a Stony Brook field goal, senior Morgan Ellman (Scotch Plains, N.J.) kicked a 39-yarder to put UNH up 9-6 with 3:01 left in the period.
- Stacey Bedell ran 63 yards for the only TD of the period and Stony Brook went up 9-6 with 2:47 left. A conversion kick was no good.
2ND QUARTER
- Sophomore Evan Gray (Centreville, Va.) scored on a 2-yard run 50 seconds into the second period. Knight ran for a two-point conversion.
- Pedinoff added a 30-yard field goal with 11:45 to play for 17-9.
- Carbone connected with his Harrison Jackson for a 28-yard TD pass with 3:38 left in the half.
- Knight found redshirt freshman Nick Lorden (Milfrod, N.H.) for a 16-yard TD pass with 1:41 left in the half. Ellman's kick made it 24-16.
3RD QUARTER
- Donald Liotine scored on a 1-yard run to cut UNH's lead to 24-22 with 6:42 left in the period.
- Redshirt freshman Isiah Perkins (Williamstown, N.J.) intercepted a pass on an attempt for a two-point conversion.
4TH QUARTER
- Stony Brook took advantage of a fumble deep in UNH territory to take the lead.
- Carbone hit Bolden for a 2-yard TD pass with 13:37 left in the period and it was 28-24 Stony Brook.
- Liotine scored on an 8-yard run with 8:24 to make it 35-24.
- Courtney kicked a 29-yard field goal for 38-24 with 3:18 left.
'CAT NIPS
- Junior Kieran Presley (Amherst, Mass.) had a career-high seven catches for a career-high 73 yards.
- Presley has been out with an injury and played for the first time this season.
- Redshirt freshman safety Evan Horn (Lebanon, Pa.) returned his first career interception 14 yards.
- Redshirt freshman linebacker Steven Harper (Roselle, N.J.) had eight tackles.
- Sophomore safety Pop Lacey (Reading, Pa.), sophomore linebacker Michael Balsamo (Atkinson, N.H.) and Perkins had seven tackles each.
- Balsamo and junior defensive end Jae'Wuan Horton (Stafford, Va.) each had half a sack.
- Junior receiver Rory Donovan (Canton, Mass.) missed the game with an injury.
- Gray had a career-best six receptions for 26 yards.
- Pedinoff had one career field goal coming into the game.
- Both of his field goals of 41 and 30 yards were longer than his previous field goal.
- UNH had 363 yards of offense and Stony Brook had 369.
- Stony Brook quarterback Joe Carbone completed 15 of his 31 passes for 157 yards with two TDs and one interception.
