'Cats Blanked by Northeastern, 6-0

DURHAM, N.H. – Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) made 26 saves as the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was defeated by Northeastern University, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center.
UNH, which outscored the University of NU 11-1 in last weekend's two-game sweep, is now 11-14-1 overall and 9-8-1 in Hockey East. Northeastern won the rubber match of the season series against the Wildcats to improve to 16-9-3, 12-7-2.
Cashin recorded double-digit saves (10) in both the second and third periods. NU counterpart Brittany Bugalski made 16 of her 29 saves in the second stanza en route to the shutout.
Kasidy Anderson (2g, 2a), Hayley Scamurra (1g, 1a), Denisa Krizova (1g, 1a) and Shelby Harrington (2a) all tallied multiple points for the Huskies.

GAME RECAP
- NU scored 39 seconds into the game and with 42 seconds left in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Scamurra scored the first goal on a shot from the slot into the upper-right corner and Krizova scored a power-play goal on a shot from the high slot through traffic.
- UNH recorded a 16-11 shot advantage in the second period, but the Huskies scored the only goal of the stanza on a tally by Anderson at 14:35. She skated off the right half-boards into the circle and ripped a shot into the upper-left corner of the cage.
- Anderson struck again 65 seconds into the final frame to extend the advantage to 4-0. On a faceoff to Cashin's left, Herrington won the faceoff back to the high slot and Anderson once again blasted the puck into the upper-left corner.
- Mattie Hartman's one-timer from the low slot made it 5-0 at 12:46 and Halle Silva closed the scoring with 14 seconds on the clock.
'CAT NIPS
- Senior forward and captain Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.), the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week who entered the weekend ranked second in the league in shots, was limited to two shots.
- New Hampshire was shut out for the second time this month by Northeastern and third time overall this season.
- NU's power-play goal was scored two seconds after its two-skater power play expired. All four of the Huskies' power plays were in the first period.
- UNH generated a total of seven shots on two power plays.
