1st QUARTER
- Both teams scored on a long drive as the teams played to a 7-7 tie in the first quarter.
- New Hampshire took a 7-0 lead at 4:51 on a 16-play, 80-yard drive with a mix of nine runs and seven passes that consumed 7:01 off the clock. Facing 3rd-and-13 from the URI 22, Knight dropped back into the pocket and found Neil O'Connor (Leominster, Mass.) in the left side of the end zone. Morgan Ellman (Scotch Plains, N.J.) kicked the ensuing PAT.
- Rhode Island responded immediately with a 10-play, 75-yard drive to tie the score at 1:21. URI utilized a balanced attack of five passes and five rushes, the last of which was a T.J. Anderson leap over the line from the UNH 1.
2ND QUARTER
- D.J. Stewart's interception gave the Rams possession at the UNH 41 with 12:10 on the clock. URI quickly advanced the ball to the 15 but was denied the go-ahead score when Pop Lacey (Reading, Pa.) stripped the ball from Harold Buckner III at the UNH 1 and Isiah Perkins (Williamstown, N.J.) recovered the loose ball in the end zone.
- The Wildcats capitalized on a short field to regain the lead, 15-7, at 5:10 of the second quarter. The drive began on the URI 47 with a seven-yard run by Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), and one play later he broke free for a 22-yard run to set up 1st-and-10 at the URI 18. Following a false start, Knight ran a designed draw out of the shotgun down to the 1-yard line. On the next play, he faked the inside handoff to Crossan and bounced off a defender for the one-yard TD run.
- On the ensuing PAT, UNH lined up the swinging gate to the left and Kyle Reisert (Plymouth, N.H.) snapped the ball directly to O'Connor on the left side. O'Connor hesitated briefly then lofted a pass to an open Reisert in the back of the end zone for the two points a 15-7 margin.
- UNH's defense forced URI to punt on its last two possessions of the half to send the Wildcats into halftime with an eight-point lead.
3RD QUARTER
- URI took the opening kickoff 64 yards on eight plays and a 24-yard field goal by Justin Rohrwasser lifted the home team within 15-10 at 11:59. Two long pass plays (41 and 22 yards) had set up 1st-and-goal at the UNH 10, but the Wildcats' defense stiffened inside the red zone to force the field goal attempt.
- New Hampshire responded with a 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to extend the lead to 22-10 at 7:53. The ground game accounted for 71 of the 75 yards. Crossan had three carries for 13 yards, Knight carried the ball twice for 27 yards and Trevon Bryant (St. Augustine, Fla.) rushed four times for 31 yards, including the final three yards for the touchdown.
- On their next possession, the Wildcats marched 61 yards in 15 plays and took 6:15 off the clock to build a 25-10 advantage. Ellman's first field goal of the season, a 24-yarder, capped the drive.
4TH QUARTER
- The Rams closed within one score, 25-17, at 9:54 on Paul Mroz's 12-yard keeper.
- UNH's offense scored its third TD of the second half – with its fourth scoring drive of 10+ plays – to reestablish a 15-point lead 32-17, with 5:29 remaining. Knight connected with O'Connor for the second time in the game, this time from 12 yards, to cap the 10-play, 63-yard drive.
- The Wildcats' defense scored for the third consecutive week when Josh Kania (Milton, Ga.) forced a Markey Clarke fumble at the URI 5, D'Andre Drummond Mayrie (Lawrence, Mass.) picked up the ball at the 10 and ran into the end zone for a 39-17 lead just 45 seconds after Knight's third TD of the game.
'CAT NIPS
- O'Connor finished with career highs in receptions (six), receiving yards (85) and receiving TDs (two); he also converted his first career two-point PAT.
- Knight eclipsed 200 passing yards for the first time in his career with 207. He threw for two TDs for the third consecutive week. Knight also had 17 rushes for 64 yards.
- With the two-point conversion, Reisert scored his first career points.
- True freshman Prince Smith, Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) did not record a tackle but did snare his second career interception.
