Muses Leads the Sweep Over Holy Cross to Open Holly Young Invite

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior captain Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a sweep (25-14, 25-22, 25-15) over the College of the Holy Cross in game two of the Holly Young Invitational Friday night.

-1st set-
UNH raced to a 10-2 lead in the opening set with Bowman collecting five kills and Muses four. Following three points for the Crusaders, UNH went on a five point rally on another Bowman tally, a Molly Wotton (Dover, N.H.) score and three Tanski points. Holy Cross was down and out from there as they were out-killed 21-8 in the opening set.
-2nd set-
The Crusaders took their first lead of the match in the second set, following a 5-point run to take a 7-6 lead. Both teams traded the next four points before Wotton earned a kill and a service ace to reclaim the lead. Later in the set with the score knotted at 13, UNH scored seven straight points in a 10-1 run to increase the lead to 23-14. After trading points, Holy Cross scored six straight points all while under set-point Wildcats. The final dagger was from Mali Jereczek (Green Bay, Wis.) to secure a 25-22 set-win.
-3rd set-
New Hampshire never trailed in the final round and increased the deficit with two 3-0 runs when the score was 12-11 and 16-13. Three straight kills and a Tanski service ace sealed the 25-15 set-win as well as a sweep of the Crusaders to open the Holly Young Invitational.
Idaho State and Sacred Heart opened the Invitational at 4:30 PM. Sacred Heart came out on top in four sets.
