Muses and Tanski Lead Second-Place Finish In Holly Young Invite

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and freshman Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team were both named to the Holly Young Invitational All-Tournament team after a 1-1 finish on the final day of the tournament in Lundholm Gymnasium.
 
All-Tournament Team
Muses finished with a total of 55 kills and 41 digs in the 2-1 weekend of the tournament. She led UNH in kills in all three matches. Tanski, competing in her first Holly Young Invite, recording 30 kills and 44 digs. She finished second in kills in two of the three matches. The Wildcats finished second in the four-team tournament.
 
Match One – UNH vs. Sacred Heart
The Wildcats fell in four sets (24-26, 24-26, 25-13, 26-28) to the Pioneers. The Wildcats nearly forced a fifth set following an 11-0 run after being down 19-11. Muses finished with four kills in the stretch. UNH took a 26-25 lead with the set on the line but three straight Sacred Heart kills sealed the deal.

Match Two – UNH vs. Idaho State
New Hampshire fell in the opening set and rallied for a four-set win (15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-21) over Idaho State to take second place in the tournament. Following a first set where the 'Cats hit .062 on attacks, they battled to a 25-22 win in set two to tie it up. The Bengals looked to have the third set handedly with an 18-14 lead and the service before UNH rattled off a 11-0 run to earn a set victory led by Muses with six kills in the stretch. No team led by more than three in the final set until an error by the Bengals gave UNH a 19-15 lead. The Wildcats battled through the final six points and held on for the win.
