Bowman Tallies Near Double-Double, Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Fresno State

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior outside hitter Courtney Bowman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) recorded a near double-double with nine kills and nine digs as the University of New Hampshire volleyball team fell in three straight sets (25-19, 25-13, 25-23) to Fresno State University Monday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.

The Wildcats never trailed in the opening set until kill a from Maggie Eppright gave the Bulldogs a 10-9 score. Fresno State began a 5-0 run just before the Eppright finish on an attack error for UNH. Fresno State finished with 14 kills in the set, four from Coates, to take a 25-19 set win.
-2nd set-
Early in set two, Fresno State rattled off a 6-0 run to take a 8-3 set lead before UNH's Wotton drilled one of her three kills in the second stanza. The Bulldogs recorded 11 kills and 16 digs in the set to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-13 set win.
-3rd set-
The final set was back-and-forth with neither team taking more than a two-point lead until Wotton finished one of her five kills in the set for an 11-8 lead from a freshmen Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) setup. UNH led for most of the set, and by as much as five points following a 4-0 run to take a 19-14 lead. Bowman, Wotton and Smith all recorded kills in the stretch. The Bulldogs answered with a 4-0 run of their own to come within one point. Fresno State finished the match with a 7-3 run to claim the victory.
