Leissner Scores 21 points, Men’s Hoops Topples Binghamton, 59-55

VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) recorded his seventh 20+-point game with 21 points as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team defeated Binghamton University, 59-55, Saturday afternoon at the Events Center.
The Wildcats improved to 13-9 overall and 6-3 in the America East. UNH has won four straight road games. Binghamton fell to 5-18 overall and 2-8 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a poor first half shooting for UNH, the Bearcats improved their 23-21 lead at the break to 36-27 with 14:18 to play. The Wildcats stormed back to eventually tie it up, for only the second time in the game, at 47 apiece. McNamara drilled all three of his threes during the stretch. UNH claimed the lead, 51-50, for good on a layup from Smith with 3:05 to go. Leissner finished two free throws and Smith laid another in for a five-point cushion with 46 seconds to play.
Binghamton scored four straight points to inch within one point, but sophomore Keon Burns (Beaverton, Ore.) nailed his only two free throw attempts to ice it.
UNH took its largest lead of the game following the opening tip. Leissner and Camara hit layups and senior Ronnel Jordan (San Antonio, Texas) nailed a free throw for a 5-0 lead, early.
