Chapman Tallies Two Assists in 6-3 Loss at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.) recorded a career-high two points on a personal-best two assists, but the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was defeated 6-3 by Providence College at Schneider Arena on Saturday afternoon.
UNH, which won 4-3 at Schneider Arena two weeks ago, is now 4-11-0 overall and 3-6-0 in Hockey East. PC improved to 7-7-1, 4-3-1.
UNH goaltender Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) tallied double-digit saves all three periods, including a high of 15 in the first period, to finish with 39 saves. PC goalie Madison Myers, who entered the game at the start of the second stanza with the Friars trailing 2-1, earned the win by stopping 24 of 25 shots.

GAME RECAP
- Kate Haslett (Rothesay, New Brunswick) struck first at 11:31 of the first period to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
- Danielle Hardy netted a shorthanded goal – the first allowed by New Hampshire this season – to tie the score at 14:16.
- Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) scored her first goal of the season to give UNH the lead back, 2-1, at 18:05. Chapman, who also set up Haslett's tally, earned her second assist of the game.
- The 'Cats took that one-goal lead into the first intermission despite the fact PC doubled up the visitors in shots, 16-8.
- Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) extended the advantage to 3-1 at 4:05 of the second stanza. Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Lexie Revkin (Gaithersburg, Md.) were credited with assists.
- Cassidy Carels potted a power-play goal at 7:03 to lift the Friars within 3-2.
- Brooke Boquist leveled the score, 3-3, at 1:35 of the third period.
- Boquist and Carels struck again 84 seconds apart – at 8:13 and 9:37 – to give the Friars their first lead of the game, 5-3.
- Christina Putigna capped the scoring at 13:41.
