Kyra Smith, women's ice hockey
    Kyra, a freshman from Littleton, Colo., backboned UNH to a weekend sweep at the University of Maine on Jan. 23-24 by stopping 53 of 54 shots for a 0.50 GAA and .981 save percentage. As a result, she was honored as Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday (Jan. 25).
    Kyra recorded her first career shutout with a 32-save effort in Sunday's 3-0 victory; she was credited with 11 saves in the first period and 12 in the third to finish with 30-plus saves for the fifth time this season. One day earlier, Kyra stopped 21 of 22 shots to backbone UNH to a 5-1 win; she made 12 saves in the final frame of that game but lost her shutout on a power-play goal with 6:39 left in regulation.
     In 18 games this season, Kyra has a 9-8-1 record with a .900 save percentage and 2.60 GAA. In 11 Hockey East league games, she is 6-5-0 with a .911 save percentage and 2.36 GAA. Her season highlights include first career win (2-1 at UConn; Nov. 8) and career-high 34 saves (Nov. 13 at second-ranked Boston College).
    Kyra has received a total of four Hockey East awards this season. She is a two-time recipient of the Rookie of the Week and has also been named both Rookie of the Month (December) and Defensive Player of the Week.

Phil Rivet, skiing
    Phil, a sophomore from Saint-Lambert, Quebec, raced to his first career EISA victory in the giant slalom and placed third in the slalom to help the UNH ski team place third at the Colby Carnival, which was held Jan. 22-24.
    The transfer from the University of Montreal propelled the Wildcats to the top spot in the men's GS and the 'Cats to first place overall on Jan. 22. Phil posted a two-run time of 2 minutes, 1.67 seconds as he earned the top tier of the podium by shaving 1.19 seconds off his time between his first heat (1:01.43) and his field-leading second run of 1:00.24.
    In Saturday's slalom at Sugarloaf, Phil clocked in a combined time of 1:30.20 for third place.
    Phil made his EISA debut Jan. 15 at the Bates Carnival and took 14th place in the giant slalom. One day later, he raced to third place in the slalom. He combined a first-run time of 56.49 seconds with a faster second-run time of 55.26 for a cumulative mark of 1:52.04.
    Before coming to UNH, Phil competed for the University de Montreal ski team (2010-14) and Quebec Provincial team. He was the University's Rookie of the Year in 2014 and he led the team to first place in the overall provincial circuit.

2016 WOMEN'S FROZEN FOUR COMES TO UNH'S WHITTEMORE CENTER
The NCAA Women's Frozen Four is coming back to Durham! UNH's Whittemore Center was the site of the national championship in 2002 and 2005 and it will be again in March 2016.
Tickets are on sale now for the NCAA 2016 Women's Frozen Four that will be played at the Whitt on March 18 & 20. The all-session package includes a ticket to both the March 18 semifinal games (single admission; 4/7 pm) and the March 20 championship game (2 pm).
Each all-session chairback seat costs $35. There is also a bench seat option at $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and youths. Groups of 20 or more can purchase an all-session package at $15 per seat, regardless of section.

UNH LAUNCHES 2016 FOOTBALL STADIUM TICKET CAMPAIGN
    The UNH department of athletics has launched of a marketing campaign aimed at establishing a priority system for seat selection at the under-construction Wildcat Stadium for the 2016 season.
    The campaign will enable fans to reserve season tickets in the state-of-the-art stadium. For a $25 deposit per seat, fans will receive a seat selection priority number in the order in which their reservation is made. The deposit is completely refundable and nonbinding.
    Current season ticket holders for 2015 football do not need to make a seat deposit at this time; they will be given seat selection priority over the general public. The seat selection process for season ticket holders will be announced at a later date.
    Details of season ticket packages, including amenities and privileges, will be announced this winter, at which time fans can select their ticket package preference. A "Select A Seat" event in which fans pick their actual seat location in the new stadium will be announced at a later time.
 Fans can secure a priority number by clicking HERE or by mailing seat reservation deposits to Whittemore Center Arena Box Office, 128 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (11-8 overall, 4-2 America East)
- The UNH men's basketball team went 3-0 last week with road wins at Maine (99-91 on Jan. 18) and UMass Lowell (78-76 on Jan. 21) followed by a win at home against Hartford (84-71 on Jan. 24). The three-game win streak is the longest of the season.
- Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) was named America East Player of the Week by both the conference and College Sports Madness. He averaged 24.7 points per game and eight rebounds per game while shooting 59.6 percent from the floor.
- Leissner scored a career-high 30 points – on 11 field goals and eight free throws – at Maine and followed that with 27 at UMass Lowell. He concluded the week with 17 points (on 8 of 15 shooting) and nine rebounds.
- Junior Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) drilled a 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds to play to give the 'Cats the win at UMass Lowell. The Wildcats were down 14 points with 9:24 to play before rattling off 14 straight points to knot it up 65-65 with 5:05 to play. Dion's shot was #3 on SportsCenter's top-10 plays of the night.
- Senior Ronnel Jordan (San Antonio, Texas) scored a career-best 25 points vs. Hartford on a personal best eight field goals and four 3-pointers.
- Junior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) scored 19 points, grabbe eight rebounds and dished out six assists against the Hawks.
- The Wildcats outrebound the opposition by 20+ rebounds all three games.
- New Hampshire returns to action Jan. 27 (7 p.m.) against the University of Vermont in a game televised on ESPN3. Western Wednesday, presented by 95.3 The Bull, will feature country music, a line dancing performance by On The Dance Floor with Gail Eaton at halftime and giveaways to fans who dress in western gear.
- UNH closes out the first half of America East conference play Jan. 30 (1 pm.) on Saturday.

- The UNH women's basketball team went 1-2 last week with a home win against UMass Lowell (65-61) road losses to Maine (62-52 on Jan. 18) and Hartford (48-44 on Jan. 24).
- Senior guard Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds at Hartford; she was also credited with three steals, two assists and two blocks against the Hawks. Belanger climbed to No. 9 on UNH's all-time scoring list with 1,260; she supplanted Theresa Redmond (1,252).
- One game earlier, Belanger matched her career high of 32 points to propel UNH to victory against UMass Lowell. She made 12 of 16 field goals, including 3 of 5 3-pointers.
- Belanger was also the Wildcats' top scorer against Maine with 17 points; she also grabbed eight rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) made 8 of 12 field goals for 16 points vs. Maine. She also had nine rebounds.
- New Hampshire returns to action Jan. 27 (7 p.m.) at the University of Vermont. The Wildcats end the week Jan. 30 (1 p.m.) at home against UMBC.

- The 15th-ranked UNH gymnastics team was edged by the University of Pittsburgh, 193.550 to 193.275, in the Jan. 23 dual meet in the Keystone State.
- UNH posted the top five scores on balance beam for the second consecutive meet. Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) and Casey Lauter (Northport, N.Y.) shared the beam championship with matching scores of 9.925, while Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) earned a 9.850 for third place.
- Aucoin is ranked second in the EAGL conference and eighth nationally on beam with an average score of 9.881.
- Jennifer King (Freehold, N.J.) registered a career high on uneven parallel bars with a first-place score of 9.825.
- Elizabeth Mahoney (Hanson, Mass., 9.725, 2nd) achieved New Hampshire's top score on vault, while Danielle Doolin (Medford, N.J., 9.850, 2nd) registered the team's top mark on the floor exercise. Doolin also placed second in the all-around with a four-event aggregate total of 38.825.
- The UNH gymnastics team returns to action Jan. 30 (1 p.m.) at the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational, which will be held at Yale University. Southern Connecticut State and the University of Bridgeport will also be competing.
- UNH's next home meet is the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 7 (1 p.m.); the 'Cats will be competing against the University of Bridgeport, Brown University and Towson University. - The UNH men's ice hockey team was swept in last weekend's two-game home series against 13th-ranked University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish defeated the Wildcats 5-1 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday.
- Senior goaltender Jamie Regan (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) made his first career start in net for the Wildcats on Saturday and made 26 saves on 29 shots faced.
- Freshman forward Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) made the first penalty shot for the Wildcats since Feb. 17, 2006, in Friday night's game.
- The UNH men's hockey team is on the road to play No. 4 Providence College on Jan. 29-30. Both games start at 7 p.m.

- The UNH women's ice hockey team swept a two-game series at the University of Maine (5-1 and 3-0 victories) to climb into fourth place in the Hockey East standings. The Wildcats have a 10-7-1 record against unranked teams this season and the 'Cats have a winning road record of 6-5-1 since Oct. 30.
- Freshman goaltender Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) went 2-0-0 last week by stopping 53 of 54 shots for a 0.50 GAA and .981 save percentage. She recorded her first career shutout with a 32-save effort in Sunday's 3-0 win.
- Sophomore forward Carlee Toews (Grand Prairie, Alberta) recorded three points (1g, 2a) in the weekend series. She scored the game-winning goal Sunday by giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead midway through the first period. Toews set up the next goal early in the second period to record her first career multiple-point game.
- Junior forward Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) matched her career high of two assists and season high of three points in Saturday's 5-1 win at Maine. Curtis has eight multiple-point games this season and 15 in her career.
- Curtis is averaging more than a point per game in Hockey East league play with 18 points (7g, 11a) in 17 games.
- Sophomore forward Amy Boucher (Edmonton, Alberta) recorded a goal and an assist Saturday. She has six multiple-point games this season and eight in her career.
- Junior forward and alternate captain Cassandra Vilgrain (Calgary, Alberta) recorded a point both games last weekend and has a point in 8 of 11.
- Senior Margo Lund (St. Paul, Minn.) and Boucher scored goals 38 seconds apart in Saturday's second period to mark the fastest consecutive goals scored by UNH this season.

- The UNH ski team accrued 912 points but was edged by Dartmouth College (921 points) and University of Vermont (917) to place third overall at the 16-team Colby Carnival, which was held Jan. 22-24.
- Men's alpine skier Phil Rivet (Saint-Lambert, Quebec) raced to his first career Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association victory in Friday's giant slalom to propel the Wildcats to first place in that race and the top spot overall through the first day of competition. Rivet posted a two-run time of 2 minutes, 1.67 seconds as he earned the top tier of the podium by shaving 1.19 seconds off his time between his first heat (1:01.43) and his field-leading second run of 1:00.24.
- Bryan Cookson (Vernon, British Columbia) registered a career-high, fifth-place time of 2:02.94 and Jay Ogle (Pittsfield, Mass.) secured 15th place in 2:03.75 in the men's GS.
- The UNH women's alpine team placed three skiers in the Top-10 to place second (110 points) in GS. ). Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden) led the way by notching her third consecutive Top-10; the sophomore took third place in 2:07.25. Kelly DiNapoli (Ludlow, Vt.) set a personal best by crossing the line in seventh place (2:08.57/35 points), and Sohvi Virkkula (Salla, Finland) earned ninth place in 2:09.06.
- Lizzie Gill (Bozeman, Mont.) powered the Wildcat women's Nordic team to second place (103 points) in the women's 15K classic. The junior earned her second consecutive Top-5 placement, third straight Top-10 result and registered her first career EISA podium finish by finishing in third place in a time of 50 minutes, 53.2 seconds.
- The men's Nordic team was headlined by Raleigh Goessling (Esko, Minn.), who completed the 15K free in 42:15.9 for sixth place. Eirik Fosnaes (Hovik, Norway) finished 10th in 43:05.5 (31 points) for his second straight Top-10
- In Saturday's slalom at Sugarloaf, Rivet clocked in a combined 1:30.20 for third place. Chris Steinke (Ottawa, Ontario) placed seventh in 1:30.68 for his first Top-10 finish of the season, and Cookson notched a 10th-place combined time of 1:31.55. The Wildcat men's alpine team finished second in SL with 109 points.
- UNH's women's alpine team also raced to second place in SL by tallying 101 points as a result of three Top-10s. Geneviève Frigon (Laval, Quebec) led the way by crossing the finish line in 1:34.13 for a career-best sixth place, Wedsjö made it four-for-four in Top-10s this season by taking eighth (1:34.91) and Randa Teschner (Petawawa, Ontario) followed in ninth place (1:35.34).
- The duo of Gill and Katrin Larusson (Truckee, Calif.) combined to win Sunday's women's freestyle team sprint with a total time of 20:41.7.
- Powered by two Top-5 finishes, the UNH men's Nordic team scored 148 points to place second in the men's team sprint. Peter Holmes (Tahoe City, Calif.) and Tyler Quinn Smith (Park City, Utah) notched third place in a time of 17:08.6. Goessling and Fosnaes registered a combined time of 17:30.7 for fifth place.
- The UNH alpine ski team returns to action this weekend (Jan. 29-30) for the Vermont Carnival at Stowe Mountain Resort. The Nordic 'Cats compete in the UVM Carnival on Feb. 6-7 at Trapp Family Lodge.

- The UNH swimming and diving team returned to action in the 2016 calendar year with a 185-108 win at Binghamton University on Jan. 23.
- Sophomore Jessica Harper (Easthampton, Mass.) won three events, including a Binghamton pool record in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4 minutes, 28.60 seconds. She also took victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.99) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.82).
- Sophomore diver Hailee Miller (Milton, Mass.) swept the diving portion of the meet with a victory in the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive. In the one meter, she put up 228.07 points while in the three meter, she notched a score of 229.26.

- The UNH men's cross country team ended the 2015 season with a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships held Nov. 13 at Franklin Park (Boston, Mass.).
- Sophomore Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) placed 118th in the 10K race with a time of 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) who collected 143rd place in 33:10.

- Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 with a 30th place finish in 20 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the 6K race. She also received the Elite 90 award for the highest grade point average of all the athletes at the NCAA Championships.
- Last year, Donegan earned her first All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she placed 10th in the 3K steeplechase.
- The Australian native holds a 4.0 GPA while studying political science. She was named the America East Cross Country Elite 18 winner at the conference championships (Oct. 31). She collected the same award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships as well, for the highest GPA of the top finishers.
- The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Donegan is the second UNH athlete to secure the honor, after Liz Guiney of women's skiing earned the award during the 2012-13 athletic season. There are 340+ cross country-sponsored programs by the NCAA at the Division I level.

- The UNH field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by University of the Pacific in an America East quarterfinal game at the University at Albany on Nov. 6. The Wildcats recorded a sizable advantage in both shots (27-7) and penalty corners (13-5).
- Prior to the start of the tournament, junior midfielder Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and sophomore midfielder Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was an All-Rookie Team selection. Senior forward Meg Carroll (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior back Chandler Giese (Trappe, Pa.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.
- At the conclusion of the tournament, senior forward Meg Flatley (Townsend, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship Team.
- Flatley extended her goal streak to three games by scoring her 10th goal of the season and 52nd career goal when she gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 23:07. That goal moved her into a tie for third on the program's career leaderboard with Hayley Rausch (2008-11). Flatley also climbed into No. 4 with 120 career points; that spot was previously held by Gaby Haroules (1977-80; 119 points).
- Nerbonne finished the season as the team leader in goals (12), game-winning goals (three), points (26) and shots (85).
- The end of the 2015 season marked the end of careers for Carroll, Flatley and Giese as well as classmates Emma Compagna (Canton, Mass.), Lynne Lehman (Landisburg, Pa.) and Taylor Rideout (Barrington, R.I.).

FOOTBALL (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA)
- The UNH football team's impressive fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 27-20 loss to Colgate University in an NCAA FCS first round game at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 28. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 consecutive years, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
- Junior defensive back Casey DeAndrade (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior offensive lineman Austin Heter (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and junior tight end Jordan Powell (Forked River, N.J.) were named to the 2015 Division I All-New England Team by the New England Football Writers' Association.
- DeAndrade was named to the All-CAA Football First Team as both a cornerback and punt returner for the second consecutive year.
- Powell was also a First Team selection, while Heter was voted to the Second Team.
- Junior running back Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) received two accolades. He was named to the Third Team as a running back and kickoff returner.
- Senior captains Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) and Jullian Turner (East Pittsburgh, Pa.) were Third Team honorees.
- Senior quarterback and captain Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) finished with career numbers of 654 completions on 1,068 attempts for 7,536 yards. On UNH's all-time leaderboard, those numbers rank No. 3 in completions, No. 5 in attempts and No. 5 in yards.

- The UNH men's soccer team fell in the America East quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Nov. 7 to end the Wildcats' season.
- Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) earned the America East Midfielder of the Year title as well as an All-Conference First Team spot while Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine), Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) and Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) each earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
- Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

- The UNH women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in an America East quarterfinal game at the University of Maine on Oct. 29. The Wildcats and Black Bears battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of overtime, but Maine advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks at Mahaney Diamond.
- Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) was named America East Midfielder of the Year and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Stow, Mass.) was named the America East Striker of the Year.
- Murphy and Murray were joined by senior captain Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) on the All-Conference First Team.

- The UNH volleyball team saw its 2015 season end Dec. 3 with a straight-set loss to 11th-ranked University of Florida in an NCAA first round match. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAAs for the third consecutive year by winning the America East tournament title for the third straight year.
- The set scores vs. the Gators were 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
- New Hampshire's 21 wins is the most in program history since the 2003 season (23-12, 12-2 AE).
- The end of the 2015 season also marks the end of UNH volleyball careers for seniors Abby Brinkman (Brecksville, Ohio), Brenna Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.), Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.), Maggie Kenney (Merrimack, N.H.) and Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.). The senior class propelled the Wildcats to a 76-47 record during its tenure in Durham.
- UNH earned the automatic berth into the NCAAs by capturing the America East Championship title on its home court for the third consecutive year. The Wildcats trumped Binghmaton, 3-1, in the semifinals and defeated University at Albany, 3-1, in the Nov. 21 title match.
- It marked the first-time in program history that UNH won the conference title three straight seasons.
- The America East bestowed UNH 13 postseason awards with juniors Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and Keelin Severtson (Delray Beach, Fla.) taking home the league's co-Player of the Year and Setter of the Year respectively.
- Forrest garnered First Team and All-Academic Team honors for the third straight season. Muses and Severtson joined Forrest on the All-Conference First Team. Lightfoot notched her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference Second Team. Alongside Forrest, Croci and Brinkman merited All-Academic Team mentions. Following the conclusion of the tournament Forrest was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Player. Joining Forrest on the All-Championship Team were Lightfoot and Croci.
- Lightfoot finished her UNH career as the all-time leader in digs, tallying 1,657 in her four years.
- Forrest concluded her collegiate career second all-time in total attacks (4,129), fifth all-time in kills (1,264) and eighth in digs (1,054).
