STUDENT-ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
Casey Lauter, gymnastics
Casey, a sophomore from Northport, N.Y., won the floor exercise and tied for first place on balance team to lead the UNH gymnastics team to a team score of 195.100 and second-place finish at the Little Boston Meet on Jan. 9.
Casey matched her career-high score of 9.875 on the balance beam and followed that with a winning mark of 9.850 in the final rotation on floor. She recorded an all-around score of 39.200 to earn third place.
Last year as a freshman, she competed in the all-around each of the first six meets of the season before being sidelined by injury the next six meets. She returned to compete at the NCAA Regional Championship at West Virginia University on April 4, but was limited to uneven bars and balance beam.
Casey was starting to hit her stride in the all-around immediately before incurring the injury with consecutive scores of 39.225 Feb. 8 and Feb. 16. Her other season highlights included a 9.825 in vault (Jan. 18), 9.825 on bars (Feb. 16), 9.875 on beam (three times, including the NCAA Regional) and 9.875 on floor (Feb. 8).
Jaleen Smith, men's basketball
Jaleen, a junior from Freeport, Texas, scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the second half to lead the UNH men's basketball team to a 58-43 victory against Binghamton University in the Jan. 9 America East conference opener at Lundholm Gym.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard finished shooting 4 of 8 from the floor, including 1-for-3 on 3-pointers; he also contributed three rebounds and two assists in just 29 minutes. The nation's leading free throw shooter made all six attempts vs. the Bearcats to improve to 9x.x% on the season.
UNH led 50-38 with 75 seconds remaining and Jaleen went 4-for4 from the foul line the rest of the way to help the Wildcats keep the Bearcats at bay.
Jaleen has scored 146 points in 11 games this season to rank second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game. He is the leader in assists (4.2 per game), steals (1.2 per game) and minutes per game (35.4), has made a team-high 46 free throws (on 48 attempts), ranks second in rebounding (4.9 per game), and is tied for third in 3-pointers made (14). He scored a career-high 23 points vs. Bryant University.
Last year as a sophomore, Jaleen started all 32 games in which he appeared and averaged 31.8 minutes per game. He ranked second on the squad and 12th in the America East conference in scoring (10.7 ppg); his other numbers included 5.2 rebounds/game and 2.8 assists/game, as well as a team-best 43 steals (1.3 per game). His highlights included a season-high 17 points vs. UMass Lowell (Jan. 19, 2015) and a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) at the University of Hartford on Feb. 10.
In 68 career games (52 starts), Jaleen has scored 595 points (8.8 ppg) and pulled down 291 rebounds (4.3 rpg). He also has 162 assists and 70 steals.
2016 WOMEN'S FROZEN FOUR COMES TO UNH'S WHITTEMORE CENTER
The NCAA Women's Frozen Four is coming back to Durham! UNH's Whittemore Center was the site of the national championship in 2002 and 2005 and it will be again in March 2016.
Tickets are on sale now for the NCAA 2016 Women's Frozen Four that will be played at the Whitt on March 18 & 20. The all-session package includes a ticket to both the March 18 semifinal games (single admission; 4/7 pm) and the March 20 championship game (2 pm).
Each all-session chairback seat costs $35. There is also a bench seat option at $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and youths. Groups of 20 or more can purchase an all-session package at $15 per seat, regardless of section.

UNH LAUNCHES 2016 FOOTBALL STADIUM TICKET CAMPAIGN
The UNH department of athletics has launched of a marketing campaign aimed at establishing a priority system for seat selection at the under-construction Wildcat Stadium for the 2016 season.
The campaign will enable fans to reserve season tickets in the state-of-the-art stadium. For a $25 deposit per seat, fans will receive a seat selection priority number in the order in which their reservation is made. The deposit is completely refundable and nonbinding.
Current season ticket holders for 2015 football do not need to make a seat deposit at this time; they will be given seat selection priority over the general public. The seat selection process for season ticket holders will be announced at a later date.
Details of season ticket packages, including amenities and privileges, will be announced this winter, at which time fans can select their ticket package preference. A "Select A Seat" event in which fans pick their actual seat location in the new stadium will be announced at a later time.
Fans can secure a priority number by clicking HERE or by mailing seat reservation deposits to Whittemore Center Arena Box Office, 128 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (8-6 overall, 1-0 America East)
- The UNH men's basketball team won its only game of the week by opening America East conference play Jan. 9 with a 58-43 victory against Binghamton University at Lundholm Gym.
- The Wildcats held the Bearcats to a season-low 43 points, including 16 points in the first half.
- Junior guard Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) finished with 15 points, 10 in the second half, and grabbed three rebounds.
- Classmate Jacoby Armstrong (Sachse, Texas) notched 14 points (6 of 12 shooting) and snagged five rebounds.
- UNH held a 5-14 advantage in turnovers, which led to an 11-3 margin in points-off-turnovers.
- The Wildcats also shot 82.4 percent from the charity stripe while the Bearcats went 6 of 12. UNH clinched the win with 12 straight made free throws in the final four minutes.
- New Hampshire travels to defending America East champion University at Albany on Tuesday, Jan. 12 (7 p.m.). UNH returns home on Saturday, Jan. 16 (1 p.m.) for Stony Brook University on Fox College Sports.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (6-8 overall, 0-1 America East)
- The UNH women's basketball team opened America East conference play with a 51-50 loss at Binghamton University on Jan. 9.
- Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) recorded her third double-double of the season with a team-high 15 points and 10 rebounds, which also led the 'Cats.
- Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. She made 6 of 13 field goals and both free throw attempts.
- UNH trailed 47-45 with 1:20 remaining, but Corinne Coia (North Smithfield, R.I.) scored a field goal with 50 seconds on the clock and then Peyton Booth (Wadsworth, Ohio) blocked a shot at the other end of the court to keep the score tied at 47.
- Emily Peters (Lindstrom, Minn.) then made the first of two free throws and Pogue corralled the rebound off the miss, which led to a pair of Belanger foul shots and 53-50 lead with 16.3 seconds left.
- The Bearcats rallied to victory, however, by hitting a pair of free throws, getting an offensive rebound and scoring on a putback just before the buzzer.
- Belanger is the UNH leader in scoring (16.0 ppg), 3-point field goals made (15), free throws made (59), rebounding (5.3 rpg) and minutes (473; 33.8 per game). She is second in steals and third in assists.
- New Hampshire women's basketball returns to action Jan. 13 (12 p.m.) at home against the University at Albany for Education Day. GYMNASTICS (1-1 overall)
- The UNH gymnastics team opened the 2016 season at the Little Boston Meet and placed second with a score of 195.100. George Washington University captured first place with 196.175 and Rutgers University placed third at 193.100.
- Casey Lauter (North Port, N.Y.) matched a career high on balance beam (9.875) to tie for first place in the event. She won the floor exercise with a mark of 9.850. Lauter also competed as an all-arounder for the first time since Feb. 16 of last season and took third place overall at 39.200.
- Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) posted a 9.900 on uneven bars in her collegiate debut to earn the Wildcats' top score and a share of first place in the event.
- Liz Mahoney (Hanson, Mass.) led the Wildcats on vault with a score of 9.825 to tie for fourth place overall.

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY (8-8-4 overall, 2-2-4 Hockey East)
- The UNH men's ice hockey team battled 10th-ranked UMass Lowell for 60 minutes and lost 1-0 when the visiting River Hawks scored with 2:44 remaining in regulation.
- Sophomore netminder Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) made 26 saves for a .963 save percentage.
- Senior Dan Correale (Prince George, British Columbia) was named the Warrior Hockey Player of the Week last Monday and, in mid-week, Andrew Poturalski (Williamsville, N.Y.) was honored as Warrior Hockey Player of the Month for December; he also received the award for November.
- The men's ice hockey team returns to action Jan. 15 with the first of a home-and-home series against Northeastern University. Friday's 7 p.m. game is at NU followed by Saturday's game, also at 7 p.m., is at UNH's Whittemore Center.

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (8-16-1 overall, 5-10-0 Hockey East)
- The UNH women's ice hockey team returned from a month-long hiatus to battle No. 8 Northeastern University and the Huskies swept the home-and-home series with a 4-2 win at Matthews Arena (Jan. 9) and 5-2 victory at the Whittemore Center (Jan. 10).
- Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) was honored as Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month (for December) by Hockey East last Wednesday.
- On Saturday, UNH battled back from a 2-0 deficit on back-to-back goals by Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) 4:23 apart in the second period. The Huskies responded with a goal 93 seconds later and struck again late in the stanza to take a 4-2 lead through 40 minutes. UNH generated dangerous scoring chances in the third period but couldn't reduce the deficit.
- The two goals matched her career high and marked Curtis' third multiple-goal game of the season and sixth of her career. On the Hockey East leaderbosrds, Curtis is fifth in goals (12) and tied for seventh in points (25) – everyone else in the top 15 hails from BC, NU or BU.
- UNH boasts three of the top four on the blocked shots leaderboard. Sara Carlson (Hutchinson, Minn.) leads the league with 51 while Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) is third with 47 followed by Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.) at 41.
- Smith made double-digit saves in both the first (12) and second (14) periods as part of a 31-save effort Saturday. It marked the fourth time this season Smith tallied 30+ saves.
- Senior forward and alternate captain Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alberta) made her season debut Saturday at NU and also skated in Sunday's rematch against the Huskies. Kashman had been sidelined by injury the first 23 games of the season.
- The women's ice hockey team returns to action Jan. 23-24 for a two-game series at the University of Maine. Both games begin at 2 p.m.

SWIMMING & DIVING (3-1 overall, 1-0 America East)
- The UNH swimming and diving team did not compete in a meet last week.
- The team last swam in competition Nov. 20-22, 2015 at the three-day Frank Elm Invitational that was hosted by Rutgers University.
- The swimming & diving team returns to action Jan. 2, 2016, at the Citrus Classic (Mesa, Ariz.).

- The UNH men's cross country team ended the 2015 season with a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships held Nov. 13 at Franklin Park (Boston, Mass.).
- Sophomore Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) placed 118th in the 10K race with a time of 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) who collected 143rd place in 33:10.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 with a 30th place finish in 20 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the 6K race. She also received the Elite 90 award for the highest grade point average of all the athletes at the NCAA Championships.
- Last year, Donegan earned her first All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she placed 10th in the 3K steeplechase.
- The Australian native holds a 4.0 GPA while studying political science. She was named the America East Cross Country Elite 18 winner at the conference championships (Oct. 31). She collected the same award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships as well, for the highest GPA of the top finishers.
- The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Donegan is the second UNH athlete to secure the honor, after Liz Guiney of women's skiing earned the award during the 2012-13 athletic season. FIELD HOCKEY (8-11 overall, 4-4 America East)
- The UNH field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by University of the Pacific in an America East quarterfinal game at the University at Albany on Nov. 6. The Wildcats recorded a sizable advantage in both shots (27-7) and penalty corners (13-5).
- Prior to the start of the tournament, junior midfielder Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and sophomore midfielder Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was an All-Rookie Team selection. Senior forward Meg Carroll (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior back Chandler Giese (Trappe, Pa.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.
- At the conclusion of the tournament, senior forward Meg Flatley (Townsend, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship Team.
- Flatley extended her goal streak to three games by scoring her 10th goal of the season and 52nd career goal when she gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 23:07. That goal moved her into a tie for third on the program's career leaderboard with Hayley Rausch (2008-11). Flatley also climbed into No. 4 with 120 career points; that spot was previously held by Gaby Haroules (1977-80; 119 points).
- Nerbonne finished the season as the team leader in goals (12), game-winning goals (three), points (26) and shots (85).
- The end of the 2015 season marked the end of careers for Carroll, Flatley and Giese as well as classmates Emma Compagna (Canton, Mass.), Lynne Lehman (Landisburg, Pa.) and Taylor Rideout (Barrington, R.I.).

FOOTBALL (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA)
- The UNH football team's impressive fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 27-20 loss to Colgate University in an NCAA FCS first round game at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 28. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 consecutive years, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
- Junior defensive back Casey DeAndrade (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior offensive lineman Austin Heter (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and junior tight end Jordan Powell (Forked River, N.J.) were named to the 2015 Division I All-New England Team by the New England Football Writers' Association.
- DeAndrade was named to the All-CAA Football First Team as both a cornerback and punt returner for the second consecutive year.
- Powell was also a First Team selection, while Heter was voted to the Second Team.
- Junior running back Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) received two accolades. He was named to the Third Team as a running back and kickoff returner.
- Senior captains Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) and Jullian Turner (East Pittsburgh, Pa.) were Third Team honorees.
- Senior quarterback and captain Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) finished with career numbers of 654 completions on 1,068 attempts for 7,536 yards. On UNH's all-time leaderboard, those numbers rank No. 3 in completions, No. 5 in attempts and No. 5 in yards.

MEN'S SOCCER (10-5-3 overall, 3-3-1 America East)
- The UNH men's soccer team fell in the America East quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Nov. 7 to end the Wildcats' season.
- Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) earned the America East Midfielder of the Year title as well as an All-Conference First Team spot while Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine), Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) and Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) each earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
- Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (6-9-4 overall, 4-4-0 America East)
- The UNH women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in an America East quarterfinal game at the University of Maine on Oct. 29. The Wildcats and Black Bears battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of overtime, but Maine advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks at Mahaney Diamond.
- Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) was named America East Midfielder of the Year and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Stow, Mass.) was named the America East Striker of the Year.
- Murphy and Murray were joined by senior captain Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) on the All-Conference First Team.
- Freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
- Murray and junior goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.

VOLLEYBALL (21-9 overall, 11-1 America East)
- The UNH volleyball team saw its 2015 season end Dec. 3 with a straight-set loss to 11th-ranked University of Florida in an NCAA first round match. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAAs for the third consecutive year by winning the America East tournament title for the third straight year.
- The set scores vs. the Gators were 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
- New Hampshire's 21 wins is the most in program history since the 2003 season (23-12, 12-2 AE).
- The end of the 2015 season also marks the end of UNH volleyball careers for seniors Abby Brinkman (Brecksville, Ohio), Brenna Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.), Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.), Maggie Kenney (Merrimack, N.H.) and Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.). The senior class propelled the Wildcats to a 76-47 record during its tenure in Durham.
- UNH earned the automatic berth into the NCAAs by capturing the America East Championship title on its home court for the third consecutive year. The Wildcats trumped Binghmaton, 3-1, in the semifinals and defeated University at Albany, 3-1, in the Nov. 21 title match.
- It marked the first-time in program history that UNH won the conference title three straight seasons.
- The America East bestowed UNH 13 postseason awards with juniors Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and Keelin Severtson (Delray Beach, Fla.) taking home the league's co-Player of the Year and Setter of the Year respectively.
- Forrest garnered First Team and All-Academic Team honors for the third straight season. Muses and Severtson joined Forrest on the All-Conference First Team. Lightfoot notched her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference Second Team. Alongside Forrest, Croci and Brinkman merited All-Academic Team mentions. Following the conclusion of the tournament Forrest was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Player. Joining Forrest on the All-Championship Team were Lightfoot and Croci.
- Lightfoot finished her UNH career as the all-time leader in digs, tallying 1,657 in her four years.
- Forrest concluded her collegiate career second all-time in total attacks (4,129), fifth all-time in kills (1,264) and eighth in digs (1,054).
