DURHAM, N.H. – Jake Schneider scored the game winner late in third period for the Raiders as the No. 20 University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Colgate, 3-2, on Saturday evening in the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in non-conference action.

Senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) and freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) each scored for the Wildcats, while senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) made 19 saves.

The Wildcats fall to 10-8-0, while the Raiders advance to 7-10-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats struck first with a power play goal just 57 seconds after the opening faceoff when Winters fired a slapshot from the slot to the stick side off a pass from Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.). Senior captain Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) also posted an assist.
Ryan Sullivan tied the game at 7:13 with a shot from above the right faceoff circle that went through traffic and into the back of the net.
UNH took the lead at 5:56 in the second when Newcombe tipped a shot in the crease from junior defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) at the top of the left faceoff circle. Freshman defensemen Conner de Haro (Raleigh, N.C.) recorded an assist.
Colgate tied the game 2-2 at 15:00 when Simon Labelle stole the puck in the neutral zone, skated into the lower left faceoff circle and sent a shot that deflected off a UNH defender into the back of the net.
At 18:47 of the third Schneider scored the game winner from the slot.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Wildcats went 1-6 on the power play while the Raiders went 0-1.
