Get to know junior thrower Yoofi Abaka-Amuah of the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team.
Yoofi is from Worcester, Massachusetts, and said that what he loves most about his hometown is the friends and community he has there.

He has two brothers and lives with his mom and dad. Yoofi shared that his parents are his biggest inspiration and have been a great support system.
"My parents keep me going and motivated. Seeing everything they have gone through shows me that I can do whatever I put my mind to," Yoofi said.

He has been throwing since he was 13 years old and explained that his passion for the sport comes from his competitive nature.
"I always want to improve myself and get better at something every day," Yoofi said.

Outside of track and field, Yoofi loves going to the gym, fishing, teaching and coaching. One day, Yoofi hopes to be a high school teacher and a coach.
"I feel that teachers and coaches make the world a better place and can help students better themselves," he said.

Three fun facts about Yoofi are that his favorite subject is math, he likes to golf and does not have a middle name. If there is one thing Yoofi could not live without, it would be Nerd's Gummy Clusters.
When asked what his favorite part of UNH is, he said it would be the community.
"The community here, everywhere you go, people are so friendly and it makes you feel welcomed," Yoofi said.

To incoming UNH students, Yoofi offered a piece of advice for finding your community here in Durham.
"Don't be afraid to talk to people," Yoofi said. "Some of the best friendships and opportunities you can have are right in front of you."
