Service Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week: Ruth White and Yoofi Abaka-Amuah

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Ruth White (Orono, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team and junior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) of the UNH men's track & field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on March 31.
Ruth shattered the school record by more than a minute in the 10,000-meter run at the Black and Gold Invitational – hosted by Bryant University – on March 28 with a time of 33 minutes, 27.57 seconds. The previous record (34:30.30) was set by Erica Jesseman in 2011.
Ruth placed third in the event behind two non-collegiate runners as the Wildcats finished second overall in the team standings.
Her time is the fastest in America East this season and 17th best in the nation.
Ruth was named both the America East Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Women's Rookie of the Week for her record-setting effort.
Yoofi placed first in the discus throw with a toss of 48.66 meters and was second in the hammer throw with a personal-record mark of 57.40m on Friday, March 28 at the Black and Gold Invitational that was held at Bryant University.
Yoofi's first and second place individual performances helped UNH place second in the team standings.
