Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Dasha Romanov and Jayden Buckrell

DURHAM, N.H. –Freshmen Dasha Romanov (Thornton, Colo) and Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) of the University of New Hampshire ski team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on March.10
Dasha earned All-America Second Team honors with a seventh-place finish in the giant slalom, leading the UNH ski team on the third day of the NCAA Championships, which were hosted by Dartmouth College on March 5-8.
Dasha was able to finish the giant slalom in seventh place due to an impressive total time of 1:58.38 in the competition giving the Wildcats 25.0 points towards their total score. In the second run, she recorded the sixth-fastest time to move up the standings and earn All-America status.

Jayden won the NCAA Men's Slalom National Championship with a time of 1:27.17 to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on the first day of the NCAA Championships
Jayden's victories secured 40 points for the men's alpine team, which placed third in the event with 55 points. He was one of only four skiers with a first run time faster than 42 seconds with a run of 41.53. That time put him in first place overall, where he was able to stay and secure the national championship.
He became just the third individual national champion in program history, joining two-time NCAA Ski champions John Kendall (1970 & 1971) and Kim Kendall (1972 & 1973).
