DeChent Named America East co_Player of the Week

BOSTON – Junior guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was named the America East co-Player of the Week on Monday.
DeChent averaged 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 37.2 minutes per game to lead UNH to a 2-0 week with a 69-66 win at CCSU and 74-38 win against Dartmouth College, which entered the game with an 8-2 record. She shot .553 from the floor, including .500 (4-8) from 3-point range, and made all nine free throw attempts.

DeChent scored a season-high 33 points and had seven rebounds in the road win against CCSU. She made 12 of 19 field goal attempts with 4-for-5 shooting from behind the 3-point line. With UNH leading 67-66 and 10 seconds remaining, DeChent made two free throws to extend the margin to three points and finish the game 5-for-5 at the foul line.
With UNH trailing 36-31 at halftime, DeChent scored 15 points in the third quarter (on 5 of 7 shooting; 2-2 on 3's; 3-3 FTs) to ignite a 22-12 quarter for UNH that propelled the Wildcats into a 53-48 lead heading into the fourth quarter. She followed that with 11 more points in the fourth quarter to finish the second half with 26 points.
In the win vs. Dartmouth, the junior guard scored a game-high 22 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had a career-high seven assists. UNH held a 30-23 lead at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring the visitors 23-10. DeChent was the backbone of that surge with 10 points (4-5 shooting from the floor; 2-2 foul line) and five assists to factor into 9 of 10 field goals made – and 21 points scored – by the Wildcats in the third quarter.
It is the second career conference Player of the Week award for DeChent, who was honored last December.
