Chauvette records first shutout as a Wildcat
LOWELL, Mass. – Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) recorded his first shutout as a UNH Wildcat with 26 saves as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated UMass Lowell, 2-0, on Friday night at Tsongas Center.
Sophomore forward Cam MacDonald (Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia) scored the game winner and freshman defenseman Ryan Philbrick (Concord, N.H.) added an empty netter.
The Wildcats improve to 4-4-0 (2-2-0 Hockey East), while the River Hawks fall to 4-5-0 (2-3-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first period, the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 12:23 of the second period when MacDonald knocked in a rebound for his second goal of the season. Junior forward J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) and junior defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) each posted an assist on the goal.
- With 2:40 left in the third period, UML went on a power play and pulled the goalie, but Philbrick sent a puck from his zone to the back of the empty net for the 2-0 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot UML, 27-26.
- The 'Cats went 0-1 on the man-advantage and the River Hawks went 0-5.
- Chauvette posted 26 saves for UNH, while Austin Elliott tallied 25 for UML.
