BOSTON – Emily Loren Wright (Ventura, Calif.), a junior on the UNH Swimming and Diving Team, was named the America East Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career following her performance in the Wildcats' victories against Siena (209-84) and Merrimack (236-56) on Nov. 1 at the Siena Swim Center.
Wright proved instrumental in UNH's two victories by contributing to three first-place finishes and setting three pool records. The Ventura, Calif., native opened the meet by anchoring the 200-yard medley relay team to victory in a pool-record time of 1 minute, 47.81 seconds.
She then swept her individual events in record-setting style, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.91 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.49. Her 200-breast performance broke the previous pool record set by former Wildcat Jamy Lum in 2021. Her contributions were pivotal in UNH claiming first place in 14 of the 16 events during the meet.
This marks the fourth America East weekly award claimed by a Wildcat this season:
