Newcombe nets two goals and Chauvette records shutout
WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) scored two goals and senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) posted a shutout with 22 saves as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Bentley, 3-0, on Saturday evening at Bentley Arena in non-conference action.
Senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) also scored a goal for the Wildcats and junior defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) tallied a multi-point game with two assists for two points.
The Wildcats improve to 7-7-0, while the Falcons fall to 8-5-1.

- The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 13:19 of the first period when Newcombe knocked in a rebound off a shot by Fitzgerald for the power play goal. Freshman forward Sam Oliver (Sambro, Nova Scotia) also posted an assist.

- Newcombe scored his second goal of the night to make the score 2-0 at 14:15 of the third period when he netted a one-timer from the slot off a pass by Fitzgerald. Freshman defenseman Conner de Haro (Raleigh, N.C.) also recorded an assist on the goal.

- Just 18 seconds later, Winters made the final score 3-0 when he fired a shot top shelf from the slot off a pass by junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.). Sophomore forward Ryan MacPherson (Windsor, Ontario) also posted an assist.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot Bentley, 27-22
