Men’s Hockey Earns 4-2 Win Over Vermont

Siedem posted three assists for the Wildcats.
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior forward Jason Siedem (Madison, N.J.) recorded three assists for three points and freshman defenseman Ryan Philbrick (Concord, N.H.) scored the game winner as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Vermont, 4-2, on Friday evening in the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
Sophomore forward Cam MacDonald (Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia), freshman forward Félix Gagnon (Jonquière, Quebec) and senior forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla) each scored for the Wildcats.
Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) posted 15 saves to earn the win.
The Wildcats move to 3-3-0 (1-1-0 Hockey East), while the Catamounts fall to 2-3-0 (0-1-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Catamounts took a 1-0 lead at 2:04 of the first period when Jens Richards knocked in a pass from Matteo Michels.
- UNH responded in the second period at 2:23 with a goal during a power-play from MacDonald, who fired home the puck into the top right corner. The goal was assisted by junior defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) and Siedem.
- The Wildcats grabbed the lead with 44.7 seconds remaining in the second period after Gagnon tapped in Siedem's pass. Freshman forward Sam Oliver (Saint John, New Brunswick) also recorded an assist.
- UVM tied it up at 2:55 in the third period when Dawson Good finished off the assist from Duncan Ramsey.
- UNH scored the game winning goal at 15:55 as Philbrick knocked in a rebound with assists from freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) and Siedem.
- The Catamounts went with an empty net with 1:57 remaining, but the Wildcats cliched the win with 31.3 seconds left as Winters sent the puck from UNH zone to the back of the empty net. Freshman defenseman Alex Carr (Sackville, Nova Scotia) posted an assist on the goal.

- The 'Cats went 1-3 on the man-advantage and Vermont went 0-1.
- Chauvette posted 15 saves for UNH, while Aiden Wright tallied 32 for UVM.
