UNH Defeats Le Moyne 3-0 Friday Night

Kriendler Records Season-High 12 Kills, 3 Aces, and 15.5 Points
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team defeated Le Moyne 3-0 on Friday.
The set scores were 25-19, 25-16, 25-19,.
Junior outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) led UNH's attack with 12 kills and 15.5 points. Sophomore middle blocker Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.) was next up with 8 kills and 11.5 points.
The Wildcats used two primary setters as freshman Ellery Singleton (Menlo Park, Calif) led the 'Cats with 13 assists and sophomore Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) had 10. Junior libero/defensive specialist Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn) led the 'Cats with 7 digs.

UNH returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 29 when they travel to UAlbany for the first conference match of the season at 3 p.m.
SET 1
● Le Moyne got the first point of the game, but this didn't stop the Wildcats momentum in the beginning of the first set.
● The 'Cats came out strong and followed up with two kills thanks to Junior right-side hitter Meredith Hohnbaum (Indianapolis, Ind).
● Le Moyne began to catch up to the Wildcats to tie it up 3-3, but Hohnbaum quickly shut that down with a kill that put the 'Cats up 4-3.
● Back to back kills from Hohnbaum and senior outside hitter Shea Purcell (Shaker Heights, Ohio) extended the UNH lead 7-4.
● The UNH lead continued with another set of back to back kills from senior outside hitter Ezgi Karabulut (Ankara, Turkey) and Grier to bring the 'Cats up 10-5.
● UNH got four more points after a slew of errors from Le Moyne to extend the lead 14-5.
● The 'Cats did not stop their scoring and kept fighting hard to keep their lead and ended the first set 25-20 to go up 1-0 in the match.
SET 2
● UNH came out even stronger in the second set with a 4-0 run thanks to kills from Kriendler, graduate student middle blocker Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.), and Le Moyne errors.
● Errors from both teams brought the score to 5-1, before Le Moyne got back to back kills which made the score 5-3.
● Three kills from Grier, one kill from Hohnbaum, and three Le Moyne errors helped maintain the score at 12-7.
● Le Moyne began to catch up, but that was shut down with a kill by Karabulut and an ace from Kriendler. (15-10 UNH lead).
● A series of errors from Le Moyne and kills from Karabulut, Grier, senior right side hitter Nadia Goich (Homer Glen, Ill) and Kriendler helped maintain the UNH lead.
● Grier recorded seven kills in the second set.
● The 'Cats once again maintained their lead and went up 2-0 in the match. Set two ended 25-16 with a kill by Lindsey Kriendler.
SET 3
● Le Moyne started the third set out with a 3-0 run with two UNH errors and one kill. But, this was quickly shut down by a Le Moyne error and two aces from Kriendler.
● Le Moyne took the lead 4-3 with an error from UNH, but UNH quickly tied it up 4-4.
● UNH trailed again 5-4, but this ended quickly with a 3 point run with kills by Junior outside hitter Millie Grove (Warrington, Pa.), Hohnbaum, and a Le Moyne attack error to put UNH in the lead 7-5.
● The Wildcats and the Dolphins went back and forth throughout the third set, and recorded a four point run with a kill from Shattles, a kill from Hohnbaum, and two Le Moyne errors to bring the score 19-14.
● UNH never gave up and fought hard throughout the entire third set, and held their lead. The Wildcats took the lead 25-19.
