'Cats Suffer Narrow Defeat to UAlbany (45-40)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fought a grueling battle against the UAlbany Great Danes on Thursday, Feb. 29 in their leap day game.
Karolina Andersson (Söderköping, Sweden) set a new career-high in points, claiming 18 points. Her previous season high was six against Colorado State in November 2023, and her career-high was 16 against Merrimack in December 2022. Along with her season high in points, Andersson also set a new career high in three-pointers made, floating five into the net. Her previous season-high was two against Colorado State in November 2023, and her career-high was three against Merrimack in December 2022.

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Great Danes started the game scoring first with a layup from Kayla Cooper, but the 'Cats stayed close with a 9-8 drive in five minutes that ended with a three-pointer from Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio).
- Albany went into the second quarter with a four-point lead.
- Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Plesant Beach, N.J.) scored the first point in the quarter from just behind the free-throw line.
- UNH continued Cavanaugh's momentum with a 7-0 run in a minute and 32 seconds, including a three-pointer from Andersson, giving the 'Cats the lead.
- UNH had a 7-6 run in 4 minutes and 16 seconds, keeping the lead with three driving layups and a free throw.
