Wildcats Season Ends in Tough Loss to Binghamton

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team's season ended in a tough loss to the Binghamton Bearcats on Senior Day.
Paige Cote (Sanford, Maine) and Adara Groman (Scituate, Mass.) were both honored in today's senior day ceremony.

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Wildcats started off strong going up 8-4 early in the quarter thanks to multiple baskets scored in the paint by Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain).
- The 'Cats were able to maintain a slight edge as the quarter persisted. However, Binghamton battled back by scoring multiple threes.
- The quarter ended with the Wildcats trailing by just one point to Binghamton.
- The Bearcats started off hot in the opening minutes of the second quarter. However, UNH quickly battled back.
- Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) scored a quick three and Cote went two for two from the free-throw line to once give the 'Cats the lead once again.
- Both teams went blow for blow, for the remainder of the half with neither able to take an edge.
- The second half began similarly to the first. However, the Wildcats were able to hold on to a narrow lead.
- With 1:23 remaining in the third, the 'Cats held a five-point lead.
- The Bearcats went on a 5-0 run in the final minute of the quarter to tie up the game going into the fourth.
- The game was close for the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.
- With 6:26 left in the quarter, Binghamton went on a 7-0 run.
- The Wildcats were unable to overcome the deficit due to multiple defensive stops and three-pointers scored by Binghamton.
- UNH led the Bearcats in second-chance points 18-10.
- The Wildcats also led in points off turnovers 16-12.
