Deadline for Nominations is Monday, March 4
DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire is accepting nominations for the Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024, which will be inducted this fall on a date to be announced. Nomination forms are available online at UNHWildcats.com/HallofFame. The deadline for nominations for this year's class of inductees is Monday, March 4.
Â
The purpose of the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those individuals (student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and contributors) who have had significant impact on the University of New Hampshire through their participation or involvement in Wildcat Athletics. Since 1982, UNH has inducted over 300 members into the Athletics Hall of Fame.
To be eligible for membership in the Hall of Fame, an individual must have made a significant contribution to the University's Athletics program, either through participation in Athletics as an undergraduate or subsequent association with UNH Athletics. Student-athlete candidates must have attended UNH for at least two years, participated on at least one varsity team, and be separated from the University as an undergraduate for a minimum of five years.
Other considerations for membership include: achievements of the prospective member during the undergraduate or post-graduate years, including participation or involvement in Athletics; sportsmanship demonstrated by the prospective member during their time in Athletics; and character and citizenship of the candidate.
Â
Wildcat teams shall be eligible for induction as a unit. A team is eligible for consideration five years after the completion of the academic year during which the achievement(s) or championship(s) took place.
Â
Coaches, administrators, and staff members (e.g., athletic trainers, managers, etc.) who served UNH Athletics in some capacity for a minimum of five years and positively impacted the experience of student-athletes during their tenure are eligible for consideration once they are no longer employed by the University.
Â
Nominees for the Joan Leitzel Contributions to Athletics Award will be considered for their significant contributions to the lives of student-athletes. The Joan Leitzel Award is named for the former UNH president who was a strong advocate of Wildcat Athletics during her term from 1996-2002.
Nominations for Hall of Fame consideration should be submitted by emailing kimberly.orso@unh.edu and supporting information (articles, letters, etc.) can be mailed to:
