DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team clinched an America East Playoff spot after defeating Bryant 3-0 on Sunday.

The set scores were 25-22, 25-18, and 25-22.

Sophomore Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.) and Meredith Hohnbaum (Indianapolis, Ind) led UNH's attack with 9 kills. UNH used two primary setters as sophomore Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and freshman Ellery Singleton (Menlo Park, Calif) both recorded 14 assists. Junior Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn) led the team with 16 digs.

UNH returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 10, when they travel to Binghamton for a 1 p.m. match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1

The 'Cats initially trailed 9-5 but responded with a 7-0 run. Senior right-side hitter Marisa Armer (Bradenton, Fla.) and Grier each contributed two kills, while senior outside hitter Shea Purcell (Shaker Heights, Ohio) added an ace to the mix. Grier and Armer also recorded key blocks.
After a back and forth set between both teams, a Grier and Armer block secures the first set to the wildcats with a 25-22 win.
Grier recorded 4 kills in set one.

SET 2

Wildcats started set two off strong, going up 6-3 which consist of three kills from Hohnbaum, a kill from Graduate Student outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) and an ace by LePore.
With two kills from Grier, a kill from Serbousek, and an ace from Singleton, the Wildcats went on a 6-0 run to help extend their lead to 12-5.
The 'Cats extended their lead to 23-15 with a kill by Grier.
UNH continued their success and won the set 25-18 with an attack error by the Bulldogs.

SET 3
●      The Bulldogs began set three up 6-4, but the Cats put three straight points on the board (Kills from Armer and Grier).
●      After a 5-0 run by the Bulldogs, the 'Cats were forced to call a timeout. Following the timeout, UNH put three straight points on the board, including a kill from Serbousek.
●      Going into a Bulldogs' timeout, UNH led 24-22. UNH won the third set 25-22 with a kill from Senior outside hitter Ezgi Karabulut (Ankara, Turkey).

UNH NOTEBOOK

●      Serbousek is 32 kills away from 1,000
●      Kaufmann is 35.5 points away from 1,000
●      Shattles surpassed 1,000 assists
●      This is UNH's 12^th sweep of the season
●      With the win, the Wildcats have clinched the America East Playoffs
