UNH Sweeps High Point 3-0 Wednesday Night

Wildcats Pick Up Seventh Win in a Row and Third Straight Sweep
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team swept High Point 3-0 on Wednesday.
The set scores were 25-20, 25-22, 25-20
Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) led UNH's attack with 12 kills and 12.5 points. Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo) was next up with 12 kills, 14 points, and a team-leading 15 digs. UNH used primary setter sophomore Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla) and she led the 'Cats with 18 assists and freshman Ellery Singleton (Menlo Park, Calif) recorded 15 assists.

● The Wildcats return to action Friday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Bryant at 7 p.m. They return to Lundholm Gymnasium on Sunday, Oct. 13 (1 p.m.) when they host Binghamton.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
● The Wildcats first points were scored off two kills, one from Serbousek and the other from Shattles.
● The Wildcats were behind at the begging of the set but quickly took multiple leads throughout the set, starting with a three-point led to bring the score to 7-4, then a four-point 14-10 lead, a five-point lead 19-14, and a seven-point lead 24-17.
○ Kaufmann, Serbousek, and Meredith Hohnbaum (Indianapolis, Ind) all played a huge part in this comeback with two kills each.
● The Wildcats and Panthers fought back and forth throughout set one but the Wildcats pulled through and got the win 25-20 with a kill from Kaufmann.
SET 2
● Set two started off with the Panthers and Wildcats being back and forth but UNH quickly got ahead with a kill by Serbousek and attack error on High Point.
● Kaufmann had four kills in the early part of set two which helped lead UNH to stay ahead for part of the set.
● UNH trailed during the middle of the second set but caught up and took the lead 17-16 with an attack error on High Point after being down three points.
○ Serbousek had two kills and Ezgi Karabulut (Ankara, Turkey) had a kill helping UNH take the lead.
● Both teams worked hard to stay in the game but UNH took the victory in set two 25-22
with a kill from Karabulut.
SET 3
● The Wildcats got the two points in the set with two serves from Shattles and a kill from Kaufmann and Serbousek.
● The Wildcats took a 7-2 and 10-4 lead in the beginning of the third set.
○ Grier and Karabulut both had kills to help the Wildcats maintain this lead.
● UNH swept High Point and won set three with an attack error leading to UNH's victory.

● Serbousek is 85 kills away from 1,000.
● Kaufmann is 70.5 points away from 1,000.
● Seven wins for the 'Cats is their best streak since 2016.
