UNH Volleyball Sweeps NJIT 3-0 Sunday Afternoon

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team swept NJIT 3-0 on Sunday in the first home conference match of the season.
The set scores were 25-18, 26-24, 27-25
Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) led UNH's attack with nine kills and ten points. Marisa Armer (Brandeton, FL) was next up with eight kills and eight and a half points. UNH used two primary setters as sophomore Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) led the 'Cats with 19 assists and freshman Ellery Singleton (Menlo Park, Calif) recorded 16 assists. Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn) and Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo) each recorded 12 digs to lead the team.

SET 1
- The Wildcats scored the first two points of the match as Shattles served and Ezgi Karabulut (Ankara, Turkey) tallied a kill.
- UNH scored five straight points at the beginning of the set to take a 5-0 lead and then scored another five straight points to stay ahead of the Highlanders 15-6.
- Meredith Hohnbaum (Indianapolis, Ind) played a major factor in this stretch with three kills, two blocks, and four points.
- UNH maintained the lead the rest of the way and won set one 25-18 with a kill by Armer for set point.
SET 2
- Set two started off with an NJIT point but UNH quickly tied it up and took the lead 3-1 with a kill from Kelly Kaufman (Raleigh, N.C.), Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo), and a block from Hohnbaum and Kaufman.
- Three Wildcat players helped the 'Cats during the second set with multiple kills, Serbousek and Kriendler had three kills.
- Set two was back and forth between the two teams but the Wildcats pushed through and won the set 26-24.
- The Wildcats got the first point in set three with a serve from LePore and Kriendler getting the kill.
- UNH trailed at the beginning of the set but caught up and took the lead 13-11 with a kill from Armer and Serbousek with two kills.
- Kriendler led the Wildcats in this set with three kills.
- The Highlanders and Wildcats fought back and forth for the set win but UNH stayed motivated and won set three 27-25.
