Two Wildcats Record Double Doubles in Victory at UMBC, 64-58

BALTIMORE, Md. – Grad student forward Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) and senior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) both recorded double doubles for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team defeated UMBC 64-58 on Saturday afternoon from Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
Baker drained 10 points and collected 11 rebounds while Daniels had a game high 22 points for the 'Cats and 11 rebounds. Daniels also contributed four steals for UNH. Baker grabbed five offensive rebounds. Junior guard Ahmad Robinson (West Orange, N.J.) tallied 18 points for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats' record improves to 11-7 (3-2 AE) and UMBC falls to 6-14 (1-4 AE).

FIRST HALF:
· UNH jumped out to a 3-2 lead in the first 30 seconds. The Retrievers then held the 'Cats for 4:25 taking an 11-3 lead, until Baker drained a three from the corner to give the Wildcats three more points.
· The 'Cats controlled for the next 4:30 with an 11-5 run bringing the deficit to two, 16-14.
· The game stayed consistent with UMBC holding a steady lead throughout the remainder of the half. The 'Cats kept the deficit within 10 the whole way.
SECOND HALF:
· The 'Cats came out hot, running up 10 points compared to UMBC's three, tying the game 32-32 and forcing a UMBC timeout. Seven of the points were scored by Robinson.
· Three steals from sophomore guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah), Daniels and Baker in 50 seconds lead to five Wildcat points.
· Following Baker's steal, Robinson sank a three to keep the momentum going. Daniels drained a floater on the next Wildcat possession to take the lead.
· Over 5:02, Daniels came up clutch scoring 10 points for the Wildcats, giving UNH a 60-55 lead.
· With two more steals in clutch time, Robinson scored on a layup and Miller put a dagger in the game with a slam dunk, securing the 64-58 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· The Wildcats forced 17 turnovers from the Retrievers, capitalizing on them for 18 points.
· Despite the UNH victory, the Retrievers held a lead for 32:10 while the Wildcats led for 5:07.
· UNH outscored UMBC 42-29 in the second half. The Wildcats scored nearly as many points with less than 10 minutes remaining than the Retrievers did the whole second half, 28.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
· Baker and Daniels added a double double to their stats in the contest, the two lead the team in the category.
· Daniels contributed four steals: a season high for the senior.
· This afternoon's victory is the first time UNH has won against UMBC in Baltimore since the 2016-2017 season.
