Wildcats Down Highlanders, 70-62

NEWARK, N.J. – Junior guard Ahmad Robinson (West Orange, N.J.) led the team with 18 points in his home state as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team downed the NJIT Highlanders 70-62 from Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center Thursday evening.
Sophomore guard Christian Moore (Virginia Beach, Va.) shot 100% from the field and beyond the arc, sinking four shots from the field and three from beyond the arc for 11 points. Grad student forward Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) collected nine rebounds for the Wildcats along with draining 11 points.
The Wildcats' record improves to 10-7 (2-2 AE) and NJIT falls to 4-12 (0-4 AE).

FIRST HALF:
- Grad student guard Naim Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored the first points of the game, which was followed by NJIT holding the Wildcats for 3:18 and scoring 10 unanswered points taking a 10-3 lead.
- A three-point shot and two floaters from the Wildcats tied the game at 10 with 15:00 left in the half.
- NJIT's Adam Hess drained a three with 17 seconds left to take a three point lead. Miller followed that up on the other end of the court with a buzzer beater three to tie the game at 30-30 going into halftime.
- The first half went back and forth, consisting of nine lead changes. The largest lead belonged to NJIT when the Highlanders had a seven-point lead, 10-3, in the first four minutes of the game.
SECOND HALF:
- The Highlanders held a lead for the first three minutes of the half until the score stood 37-36 with 17:02 remaining. Momentum shifted to the Wildcats after a three pointer from Baker gave the 'Cats a 39-37 lead.
- With help from two successful and ones from Baker and Robinson over two minutes and an additional layup from Robinson, the Wildcats took an eight-point lead with 4:27 left.
- With 1:05 remaining, Robinson sank a vital layup, extending the Wildcat lead to 64-56.
- A four-point play from Highlander Tariq Francis shrunk the UNH lead to four with just under a minute left.
- With 15.8 left, sophomore guard Dior Davis (New York City, N.Y.) sank two free throws followed by two from Robinson to secure the 70-62 Wildcat victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- 15 of Robinson's points came in the second half.
- Davis sank four free throws in the final 24 seconds of the game.
- Moore shot 100% in the contest, sinking four shots from the field and three from beyond the arc for 11 points.
