UNH Drops Final Road Game of the Regular Season at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, MASS. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to UMass Lowell Saturday night at the Tsongas Center, 92-55, in their final road game of the regular season.
With the loss, UNH falls to 13-14 (8-7 AE) and UMass Lowell improves to 24-7 (11-5 AE).
FIRST HALF
- Junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) netted the first three points of the game after being fouled on a long-range shot and converting on all three free throws.
- UMass Lowell scored the next six points before junior Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) made the first field goal for the 'Cats with a strong finish in the paint.
- The River Hawks went on a 16-5 run over the next six minutes, holding a 22-10 lead just over halfway through the opening frame.
- Johnson drilled a corner three and graduate student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y.) pulled up from the mid-range to trim their deficit by five points.
- UMass Lowell converted on their next three field goal attempts, sparking an 11-2 run for the River Hawks as they increased their lead to 33-17.
- The Wildcats responded with eight straight points coming from three different 'Cats as the UMass Lowell lead was cut to 33-25 with 1:24 left in the half.
- The River Hawks scored the last seven points of the half to head into the break ahead 40-25.
SECOND HALF
- UMass Lowell opened the second half with the first seven points before a layup from Johnson halted the River Hawk run.
- UNH was outscored 14-9 over the next four minutes with junior Kyree Brown (Oakland, Calif.) leading the 'Cats with five points over the stretch.
- UML took their largest lead of the game at 28 points after netting a three-pointer that put the River Hawks ahead 64-36 with 11:26 left to play.
- The Wildcats were unable to trim the UMass Lowell lead as they went on a 14-7 run to extend their lead to 78-45.
- The River Hawk lead proved to be insurmountable with the final score reading 92-55 in favor of UMass Lowell.
NOTEWORTHY
- UNH leads the all-time series with UMass Lowell, holding a 14-8 record. The two teams split the regular season series with the 'Cats beating UML in Durham on Jan. 28.
- The Wildcats are now 7-3 all-time when traveling to Lowell to take on the River Hawks.
- Daniels and Johnson each netted 12 points to lead UNH. Daniels also led the Wildcats on the glass with seven rebounds.
- UMass Lowell was led by Abdoul Karim Coulibaly who scored 16 points while corralling 12 rebounds for a double-double. The big man also recorded three blocks and two steals.
- The River Hawks finished the year with a 15-0 record at home.
NEXT UP
- The Wildcats finish the regular season on Tuesday when they host NJIT for Senior Night at Lundholm Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
