DURHAM, N.H. – Senior running back Dylan Laube (West Hampton, N.Y.) recorded 307 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, but the University of New Hampshire football team was defeated 45-33 by 17^th-ranked Villanova University at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Laube recorded 132 rushing yards on 19 carries with a season-long 75 yard run for a touchdown. He also caught 10 passes for 72 yards and had three kickoff returns for 103 yards.

Max Brosmer (Roswell, Ga.) completed 27 of 40 pass attempts for 259 yards and one touchdown; he had thrown only one interception through eight games but was intercepted three times by 'Nova.

Junior linebacker Ryan Toscano (Bedford, N.H.) finished with a team-high nine tackles (two solo) to increase his career total to 201, which is best among active UNH players. . Junior Caleb Mead (Willow Grove, Pa.) contributed two tackles and scored his first career touchdown on an 87-yard kickoff return. Senior Max Oxendine (Chester, Va.) recorded UNH's takeaway with a 47-yard interception return.

Villanova's Jalen Jackson recorded a season-high 145 rushing yards on 19 attempts and two touchdowns. Rayjuon Pringle had a team-high four receptions for 104 yards and one TD. Quarterback Connor Watkins went 15 of 25 for 188 yards and two touchdowns and he also had four rushes for 26 yards and a pair of TDs.

Villanova's defense recorded four takeaways with three INTs and a fumble recovers, as well as six tackles for loss, including three sacks. Ty Trinh led all players with 13 tackles (eight solo) and Brendan Bell had 12 (seven solo).

'Nova improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the CAA. UNH fell to 4-5, 2-4 CAA.

FIRST QUARTER

Villanova was first on the scoreboard with a successful 44-yard field goal attempt by Matthew Mercurio at 8:35 to take an early lead 3-0.
UNH was quick to respond with Laube rushing 75 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown. The PAT kick was good by Mazzie at 7:20 to give New Hampshire a 7=3 lead.
UNH regained possession with a successful onside kick recovered by Charles Briscoe III (Bowie, Md.) at 7:20.
Mazzie kicked a 21-yard field goal down the middle to extend UNH's lead to 10-3 at 3:42.

SECOND QUARTER

Bell forced a fumble allowing Nino Betances to recover the ball for 'Nova and return 40-yards to the UNH 6 at 11:57.
The visitors tied the score with a 2-yard rush down the middle by Jackson paired with a successful PAT kick by Mercurio at 11:18.
UNH responded with Mead catching the kickoff return at the UNH 13 and running 87-yards to the endzone for a touchdown at 11:07 and Mazzie's successful PAT kick advanced the score to 17-10 with UNH back in the lead.
Villanova once again tied the score with a 16-yard rush down the middle by Watkins with a successful PAT by Mercurio at 8:52.
Mazzie successfully kicked a 34-yard field goal at 4:01 to once again give UNH the lead, 20-17.
With 22 seconds left in the quarter, Jackson's 6-yard rush to the left for a touchdown and Mercurio's successful PAT kick gave Villanova the lead, 24-20.
Mazzie attempted a 50-yard field goal on the last play of the half but the ball hit the right upright to keep the score 24-20 into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER

Brosmer's pass down the middle of the field for a 7-yard TD to DJ Linkins (District Heights, Md.) with a good PAT by Mazzie at 11:04 to put UNH up 27-24.
Watkins' 18-yard TD pass to TD Ayo- Durojaiye and PAT kick by Mercurio at 7:28 gave the visitors a 31-27 lead.
Bell's interception gave 'Nova the ball back at the UNH 45 at 5:59.
UNH quickly regained possession with an interception by Oxendine, who ran it to the Villanova 37 at 5:07.
'Nova regained possession with an interception by Shane Hartzell at 4:to set up 1^st-and-10 at the VU 44.
Villanova extended its lead with 37 seconds left in the quarter when Watkins rushed down the right six yards for a TA. Mercurio's PAT made it 38-27.

FOURTH QUARTER

Laube rushed up the middle two yards for a UNH touchdown at 10:43 to trim the deficit to 38-33. The home 'Cats went for a two-point conversion but Brosmer's pass fell incomplete.
Watkins launched a 68-yard pass to Pringle who took it the end. The PAT was good by Mercurio at 9:53 as Villanova pushed its lead to 45-33.
'Nova's Mercurio attempted a 47-yard field goal attempt, but it was wide to the right keeping the score, 45-33.

UNH NOTEBOOK

Laube's 75 yard rush was both his and the team's longest of the season, and two yards short from his career-long rush.
Laube moved to No. 8 on UNH's all-time leaderboard in career rushing yards at 2,730. No. 8 was previously Dalton Crossan with 2,617.
Mead's 87-yard kickoff return is his career long.
The last time UNH had a kickoff return touchdown was against Delaware (Sept. 23, 2023) with a 100-yard return by Laube.
Brosmer moved up to No. 2 on UNH's all-time leaderboard in career passing yards at 8,203. He started the day No. 3 and recorded 259 yards to move him past R.J. Toman with 8,015, edging him closer to No. 1 Rick Santos at 12,189.
Brosmer jumped to No. 2 onto UNH's all-time leaderboard in career pass attempts at 1,154. He recorded 40 attempts and is now 344 behind No. 1 Santos with 1,498.
