'Cats take down UAlbany, 3-1 in America East opener

Kara Oxenknecht and Hannah Serbousek each totaled a team-high 13 kills apiece
DURHAM, N.H. -- Freshman middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) and junior outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) each notched 13 kills apiece for the University of New Hampshire volleyball team in the 3-1 victory against UAlbany in the America East opener on Friday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats improve to 11-5 overall and extend their winning streak to six matches, while the Great Danes fall to 4-12 overall.
Oxenknecht hit at a .273 clip for the match and added seven total blocks, while Serbousek added 14 digs and was a perfect 19-for-19 on serve receive. Oxenknecht's kill in the fourth frame sealed the win for the Wildcats in the conference opener.
Junior middle blocker Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) added 11 kills with an impressive .429 hitting percentage and five blocks and freshman outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) managed nine kills with a .273 hitting percentage.
Junior libero Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) tallied a team-high 21 digs, and freshman Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn.) and junior Grace Tomann (Cold Spring, N.Y.) each amassed 12 digs apiece in the victory for UNH.
The 'Cats hit a team-best .271 in the second frame with 17 kills and hit over a .200 clip in the first and third sets.
Anna Myhai and Alex Harris each totaled a match-high 17 kills apiece in the losing effort for UAlbany.
UNH returns to action on Sunday, October 2 against Binghamton in America East play. Match time from Lundholm Gymnasium on ESPN+ is 1 p.m.
