'Cats Sweep Merrimack in Straight Sets on Wednesday Evening

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team swept Merrimack in straight sets on the road Wednesday night at Hammel Court in non-conference play. The set scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 26-24.
The Wildcats improve their record to 10-5 overall on the season, while the Warriors fall to 2-9 on the season.
Junior outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) amassed a team best 10 kills, to go along with a .364 hitting percentage and five digs. Freshman middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) chipped in with eight kills, a .533 hitting percentage and an impressive eight total blocks, while freshman outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) added six kills, hitting at a .316 clip, six digs with four service aces and three total blocks in a solid all-around effort.
"I'm extremely proud of our group and winning 10 matches during non-conference play," said UNH head coach Christopher Feliciano. "We will take a well deserved day off tomorrow and get back to work as conference play approaches."
Freshman libero Katherine Kouba (Iowa City, Iowa) totaled 15 digs and went a perfect 12-for-12 on serve receive in the victory for the 'Cats.
The Wildcats posted 10 kills in the first and second frames, hitting at a clip of .310 and .300 respectively and then followed that up with 14 kills in the final frame and .263 hitting percentage.
Cate Wright totaled a match-high 11 kills in the loss for the Warriors.
UNH returns to the court on Friday, September 30 against UAlbany in the America East opener. Match time from Lundholm Gymnasium on ESPN+ in 7 p.m.
