Student-Athletes of the Week: Meline Almasian and Zack Plaza

DURHAM, N.H. -- Junior Meline Almasian (Westford, Mass.) of the women's track and field team and sophomore Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) of the men's track and field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on April 11.
Meline of the UNH women's track and field team tied a school record in the long jump on April 9 in a weather shortened Wildcat Invitational at the Reggie Atkins Track & Field Facility. She finished first in the long jump with a mark of 18'8 tying the school record held by Emma Checovich which she set in 2018.

Zack highlighted the UNH men's track and field results with a third-place finish in the 800-meter dash at the Friar Invitational, which was held at Providence College's Ray Treacy Track on April 8.

Zack led a trio of Wildcats in a field of 41 entrants in the 800m with a third-place time of 1 minute, 53.49 seconds. In Heat 2, he was in third place at the 400m split (55.33 seconds) and ran the second-fastest split of 58.17 in the final 400m to cross the finish line second in his heat.
