ATLANTA -- Senior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) of the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team posted a time of 1:59.40 in the 200 IM preliminaries on the opening day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Georgia Tech at McAuley Aquatic Center on Thursday morning.
Metzler's time of 1:59.40 was just shy of her personal best, which she set with her time of 1:58.32 at the Bruno Invitational earlier this season, which was a new school record.
"We're off to a good start, as 1:59.40 is just off her best time and this was Anna's fastest morning prelim swim in the 200 IM ever. This should set things up well for tomorrow," said UNH head coach Josh Willman.
Metzler return to racing in her signature event, the 400 IM at the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 18 at 10am from McAuley Aquatic Center.
