Harnett Stops 26 Shots in 5-0 Loss at Maine

ORONO, Maine – Junior goaltender Nicky Harnett (Plymouth, Minn.) made 26 saves but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was defeated 5-0 by the University of Maine in Saturday afternoon's regular-season finale at Alfond Arena.
Harnett made half of her 26 saves in the third period. Maine counterpart Jorden Mattison stopped 24 shots to record the shutout.
Taylor Leech (one goal, two assists) and Celine Tedenby (three assists) led the Black Bears' offense with three points apiece. Maddie Giordano and Mira Seregely both finished with a goal and an assist.
UNH is now 11-20-2 overall and 9-16-1 in Hockey East while Maine is 14-18-1, 12-13-1.

FIRST PERIOD
- Maine recorded a 10-6 shot advantage in the opening 20 minutes and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
- Ally Trimper's first goal of the season gave the Black Bears a 1-0 lead at 14:32.
SECOND PERIOD
- UNH outshot Maine, 8-6, in the second stanza but the Black Bears extended their lead to 3-0.
- Power-play goals by Seregely at 6:06 and Elise Morphy at 17:38 pushed the advantage to 3-0.
THIRD PERIOD
- Maine scored twice more with a 15-10 edge in shots in the final frame.
- Maddie Giordano struck at 11:20 and Leech scored the Black Bears' third power-play goal of the game with six seconds remaining to close the scoring.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Maine finished with a 31-24 shot advantage and 36-18 edge in faceoffs.
- The Black Bears went 3-for-9 on the power play; UNH was 0-for-3.
- UNH blocked 16 shot attempts; Maine had nine blocks.
