Cy LeClerc scores two goals for the Wildcats
DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) scored two goals for the Wildcats but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Boston University, 6-3, at the Whittemore Center on Friday night.
The Wildcats fall to 3-12-1 (0-10-1 Hockey East), while the Terriers improve to 9-4-0 (6-3-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Terriers took the lead 1-0 at 4:23 of the first period when Devin Kaplan netted the first goal of the night as his shot ricocheted off the post and fell past the line and then back into play. The game continued but the play was reviewed and the goal was awarded.
- At 10:42 of the first period the Terriers made it 2-0 when Sam Stevens fired a shot directly in front of the goal landing the puck in the back of the net.
- Just 42 seconds after the opening faceoff of the second period, the Wildcats netted their first goal of the night on the power play when LeClerc fired a shot glove side burying it in the back right corner of the net. Sophomore defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and sophomore forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) recorded an assist on the goal.
- At 4:50 of the second period the Wildcats tied the game 2-2 when freshman forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) netted a breakaway goal shorthanded. Sophomore defenseman Alex Gagne (Bedford, N.H.) sent Winters on the breakaway and posted the assist on the goal.
- At 7:34 of the second period, Quinn Hutson scored for the Terriers on the power play giving BU the 3-2 lead.
- The Wildcats then tied the contest at 3-3 at 14:38 of the second period on the power play when senior defenseman Kalle Eriksson (Leksand, Sweden) sent a pass to LeClerc who blasted a one-timer for his second goal of the night. Devlin also tallied an assist on the goal.
- At 10:22 of the third period the Terriers made it 4-3 when Ty Gallagher sent a wide pass to Domenick Fensore who launched the puck to the back of the net.
- At 11:34 of the third period BU claimed the 5-3 lead when Ethan Phillips ripped a shot stick side.
- At 19:14 of the third period Fensore scored on the power play for the 6-3 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goaltender David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) recorded 11 saves and freshman goaltender Tyler Muszelik (Long Valley, N.J) posted 15. Vinny Duplessis had 26 saves to secure the win for the Terriers.
- BU outshot UNH, 32-29.
- The Wildcats went 2-6 on the power play, while the Terriers went 2-8.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Winters scored the first shorthanded goal of the season for the Wildcats.
- LeClerc posted his second two-goal game of the season.
