Groman Scores 17 in 64-45 Victory Over CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, C.T. – Junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) lead the team with 17 points as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated Central Connecticut State University, 64-45 on Wednesday evening at Detrick Gym.
The Wildcats' record improves to 3-5 (0-0 AE) and CCSU's falls to 1-5 (0-0 NEC).

FIRST QUARTER:
· Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) got the Wildcats on the board first with a driving layup to the basket for two.
· UNH went on a 7-0 run early in the first quarter to gain a 9-3 lead over the Blue Devils.
SECOND QUARTER:
· The 'Cats came out strong in the second quarter going on a 10-0 run.
· Groman buried 12 points for UNH in the first half.
· Freshman guard Karolina Andersson (Söderköping, Sweden) collected seven rebounds, five defensive and two offensive.
THIRD QUARTER:
· Andersson had four points on a single procession for the Wildcats. She went one-for-two on free throws and UNH collected the rebound on the miss. Andersson drained a three off an assist from O'Connor.
FOURTH QUARTER:
· CCSU outscored UNH 13-11 in the final quarter but the 'Cats held strong to capture the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· UNH combined for 24 rebounds in the first half, 19 defensive and five offensive.
· Four different Wildcats scored 10 points or more, the first time since November 27, 2020.
· The 'Cats scored 30 points in the paint compared to CCSU's 22.
