Wildcats Clinch AE Playoff Spot with 3-2 Road Win at UAlbany Friday

Lindsey Kriendler notched a match-high 17 kills in the 'Cats 17th victory of the season
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Freshman outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team paced the 'Cats with a match-high 17 kills in the 3-2 road victory at UAlbany in America East play on Friday night. The set scores were 21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23 and 15-6.
The Wildcats improve to 17-9 overall (5-4 AE) with the victory, while the Great Danes drop to 7-19 overall (2-7 AE). The Wildcats clinched a berth in the America East playoffs for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. UNH is currently in fourth place in the America East standings and has won its last three matches.
"We are extremely proud of our group and how they are maturing right in front of eyes," said UNH head coach Christopher Feliciano. "For the third week in a row we've overcome adversity and found a way to win. Last week we were down 24-19 and we found a way and this week we are down 0-2 on the road and we found a way."
Kriendler finished the match with .208 hitting percentage, five digs and three total blocks. Juniors Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) and Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) each chipped in with 14 kills apiece in the win for UNH. Kaufmann hit .333 with six blocks and Serbousek registered a .216 hitting percentage, to go along with 14 digs and three service aces.
Freshman middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) amassed seven kills in the match with six total blocks and four digs.
Senior setter Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) recorded 33 assists with nine digs and three blocks running the Wildcat offense, while junior libero Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) posted a match and career-high 23 digs in the win. Freshmen Katherine Kouba (Iowa City, Iowa) and Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn.) added 11 and nine digs, respectively for the Wildcats' defense.
The 'Cats hit at a .361 clip with 16 kills in the second frame and closed out the match in Set 5 with four kills and a .375 hitting percentage.
Anna Myhal totaled 17 kills in the losing effort for UAlbany.
UNH returns to action on Sunday, November 13 against NJIT. Match time from Lundholm Gymnasium on Senior Day is 1 p.m. and can be seen lived on AmericaEast.tv. Seniors Wren Macaulay and Erin Hedrick will be honored in a pre-match ceremony in their final collegiate home match with the Wildcats.
