Rae Breton Named Hockey East Defender of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. – Rae Breton (Brighton, Ontario), a junior on the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team, was named Hockey East Defender of the Week on Monday.
Breton recorded a goal and an assist, as well as four blocked shots and a +2 rating, in UNH's home-and-home sweep of the College of the Holy Cross on Oct. 28-29. Her goal proved the be the game-winning tally.
Breton scored her first goal of the season to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead late in the first period and then set up the next tally to propel UNH to a 2-0 road win on Oct. 28. It marked her first multiple-point game of the season and second career. Breton also had two blocks and +2 rating in that game.
Breton blocked two more shots and had an even rating in Saturday's 4-1 home win to move into a tie atop the league leaderboard in blocks for the season.
This is Breton's first league Defender of the Week award; she was honored as a Rookie of the Week in December 2019.
The is the second time this season a UNH Wildcat has been named Hockey East Defender of the Week; grad student Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario) was feted Sept. 26.
