Wildcats pick up key America East win on Sunday, 3-1 vs. Bryant

Freshman Kara Oxenknecht recorded a career-high 17 kills in the home win on Sunday
DURHAM, N.H. -- Freshman middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team registered a career-high 17 kills in the 3-1 home victory against Bryant in America East play on Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium. The set scores were 27-29, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Wildcats improve to 15-9 overall (3-4 AE), while the Bulldogs fall to 16-10 overall (4-3 AE).
"It was a must win," said UNH head coach Christopher Feliciano. "Our players came up with great team victory, the followed the game plan to a T and they really stepped up today. I think we are staring to peak at the right time."
Oxenknecht added an impressive .640 hitting percentage with six total blocks in the victory for UNH. Sophomore right side Marisa Armer (Bradenton, Fla.) added 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage, while junior middle blocker Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) added nine kills, hit at a .333 clip with a team-high seven blocks.
Freshman outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) chipped in with seven kills and four service aces. Junior outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) amassed six kills and 12 digs with four blocks in the win. Junior libero Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) totaled 12 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Katherine Kouba (Iowa City, Iowa) added 11 digs for the 'Cats.
The Wildcats hit .297 with 14 kills in the second frame and followed that up with 15 kills and a .370 hitting percentage in the third stanza.
Emma McGovern and Riley James each totaled a team-high 13 kills in the losing effort for Bryant.
UNH returns to action on Sunday, November 6 at UMBC in America East play. Match time from the UMBC Event Center is 1 p.m.
