'Cats Downed in Five Sets at Binghamton Sunday

Freshman Kara Oxenknecht notched a team-high 12 kills in the losing effort for UNH
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team dropped a five set decision at Binghamton in America East play at West Gymnasium on Sunday. The set scores were 14-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 and 5-15.
The Wildcats fall to 13-8 overall (2-3 AE), while the Bearcats improve to 13-6 overall (4-1 AE).
Freshman middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) totaled a team-hgih 12 kills with a .296 hitting percentage and a career-high eight total blocks. Junior outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) tallied nine kills and 16 digs, while freshman outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas) chipped in with eight kills in the losing effort for UNH. Serbousek finished the day a perfect 20-for-20 on serve receive.
Freshman libero Avery LePore (Franklin, Tenn.) added 18 digs in another strong defensive effort.
UNH hit .250 as a team with 13 kills in the second frame and then posted 15 kills and a .227 hitting percentage in Set 4.
Binghamton was paced offensively by a match-high 20 kills from Tsvetelina Ilieva and 16 kills from Stefana Stan in the victory.
UNH returns to action on Wednesday, October 19 at Stonehill. Match time from Merkert Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
