Widmeyer, Davis, Groman all score in double figures for Wildcats
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Junior Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) matched a career high with 14 points to lead four University of New Hampshire women's basketball players who scored in double figures, but the Wildcats were outlasted by America East-leading Stony Brook, 73-60, on Friday afternoon at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.
UNH (4-15, 1-7 America East) led by as many as five, 37-32, in the third quarter before Stony Brook (17-2, 8-1 AE) rallied for its eighth straight victory to solidify its position atop the conference standings.
Kane shot 4-for-6 from the field, 3-for-4 from 3-point distance and 3-for-4 from the free throw line to pace the Wildcats, and she tied junior Helena Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) with a team-leading six rebounds.
Senior Sophia Widmeyer (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) and freshman Talia Davis (Dedham, Mass.) scored 12 points apiece, and sophomore Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points.
The Wildcats shot 40 percent (22-for-55) from the floor, while the Seawolves shot 43.1 percent (25-for-58).
Earlette Scott paced Stony Brook with a game-high 15 points (5 of 11), and India Pagan notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
