LOWELL, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team staged a late rally but came up short in an America East game at UMass Lowell, 57-54, Saturday afternoon in the Costello Athletic Center.
UNH falls to 4-13 overall (1-5, AE). The Wildcats play Maine at home in Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the opener of a women's-men's doubleheader. UNH's men's team plays Maine at 7 p.m.

UMass Lowell won its third straight game and improved to 6-7 overall (3-1 AE).
Junior guard Helena Delaruelle (Enghien-Les-Bains, France) led UNH with 13 points and added seven rebounds and three assists. She followed up on her 18-point performance in Wednesday's 69-66 win over Hartford that featured her long buzzer-beating three-pointer for the win.
Senior forward Sophia Widmeyer (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) scored 11 points and had three rebounds for the Wildcats and grad student guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) added nine points with four rebounds and four steals.
Down by 10 midway through the fourth quarter, UNH battled back and cut the lead to five at 56-51 with 1:31 left. Freshman guard Ella Fiore (Narragansett, R.I.) collected a defensive rebound late and hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for the final score.
The Wildcats outrebounded the River Hawks, 34-31.
UMass Lowell's Ivory Finley led all scorers with 17 points.
