HANOVER, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team fell to UConn, 3-0 in the final day of play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Leede Arena. The set scores were 16-25, 20-25 and 16-25.
After the loss, the Wildcats drop to 5-5 overall, while UConn improves its record to 4-3 on the season.
"Today we were beat statically in ever aspect of play," said UNH head coach Christopher Feliciano. "We played extremely well in the second set, but could find a second gear after UConn adjusted. This week will be critical as we can get back in the gym and continue to improve."
Sophomore middle blocker Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) totaled a team-high seven kills with a .429 hitting percentage, while freshman outside hitter Shea Purcell (Shaker Heights, Ohio) added six kills and nine digs. Freshman right side hitter Marisa Armer (Bradenton, Fla.) also added six kills. Kaufmann was the lone Wildcat named to the Dartmouth Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the three matches on the weekend.
Junior setter Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) quarterbacked the Wildcats' offense with 24 assists, while Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio), Jamison White (Nashville, Tenn.) and Grace Tomann (Cold Spring, N.Y.) all recorded seven digs apiece.
UNH posted a match-high 12 kills in the opening frame.
Jasmine Davis registered a match-high 11 kills for the Huskies in the victory, while Kennadie Jake-Turner chipped in with 10 kills for UConn.
The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, September 16th against Merrimack. Match time from Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m. on AmericaEast.tv.
