UNH finished in third place in the AE standings in the spring season with a 7-3 record
BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team was picked second in the America East preseason coaches' poll, which was announced on Thursday afternoon by the conference office.
UNH garnered 27 points in the poll with one first-place vote. The Wildcats finished in third place in the 2021 fall season with a 7-3 record in America East play.
The Wildcats return two All-Conference selections in senior middle blocker Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomore outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.).
"Our returning athletes should be proud that the rest of the conference is recognizing the body of work that we put forward last year through all of the challenges the pandemic presented," said UNH Head Coach Christopher Feliciano. "It's going to be an interesting season, but we are grateful for the acknowledgement. When you work tremendously hard like we have this past year, it's a testament to the body of work that they have done. We want to do the work to be in the first place slot."
UAlbany was picked to win the league with 33 points and four first-place votes and the Wildcats and UMBC both earned 27 points. Stony Brook was picked fourth with 25 points and rounding out the field was Hartford (18), Binghamton (9) and NJIT (8).
The Wildcats open their fall season on Friday, August 27th against Murray State at the Mercer Tournament in Macon, Ga.
