Brown and McLaughlin Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

DURHAM, N.H. – Nicholas Brown (Conway, N.H.) and Dylan McLaughlin (Moultonborough, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire were named to the 2020-21 Academic District 1 Men's Track & Field / Cross Country First Team by CoSIDA on Thursday.
This accolade recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and the classroom; honorees have a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average. Brown and McLaughlin advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, and those recipients will be announced mid-August.
Brown is a graduate student with a 3.80 GPA pursuing a business administration degree; he recorded a 3.91 GPA while earning a bachelor's degree in Economics. He was named an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete in 2020 and has made the Commissioner's Honor Roll every season of competition. Brown was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, in 2019 and was a repeat honoree in 2020.
In his first competition of the 2020-21 season, Brown placed 52nd at the America East Cross Country Championships. He recorded three Top-10 finishes during the 2021 outdoor track & field season and that included a third-place finish in the 3,000-meters at the UNH Wildcat Invitational II meet. Brown raced to fifth place in the 5,000m at the UNH Wildcat Invitational I meet, as well as 10th in the 1,500m at the UNH Wildcat Pre-Conference Meet. His other highlights included 11th place in the 1,500m at the Dartmouth Outdoor Invitational.
McLaughlin graduated with bachelor's degrees in Business Administration: Finance as well as Business Administration: Information Systems & Business Analytics in May 2021 with a 3.80 GPA.
He was named an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete and also made the conference Commissioner's Honor Roll every season of competition. McLaughlin was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, in 2020 and was a repeat honoree this past spring.
McLaughlin recorded four Top-10 efforts in the 2021 outdoor track & field season. He had a top finish of fifth place twice – in the 3,000m steeplechase at the George Davis Invitational and in the 800m at the UNH Invitational II meet. He then finished sixth in the 1,500m at the UNH Pre-Conference meet. Earlier in the season, McLaughlin was seventh in that event at the UNH Invitational I meet.
He finished the outdoor season with 12th place in the steeplechase at the America East championships. In his first competition of the 2020-21 season, McLaughlin placed 53rd at the America East Cross Country Championships.
