UNH has lost one of the greats. Jere and his wife Harriet Forkey were exceptional supporters of all things UNH, particularly athletics. Jere was one of the very first people I met when I came to the University in 2000. He promised his unwavering support then, to which he fulfilled that and more. I will miss his kind advice, grounded perspective on the state of affairs, unparalleled cheerleading for our student-athletes and his commitment.

Jere Lundholm spearheaded efforts to create The UNH Sports Gallery in the Field House

Many may not know that the UNH Sports Gallery, the boards lining the halls in the Field House filled with every varsity team at UNH dating back to the very first year, was his initiative along with a UNH classmate. They spent countless hours looking for team photos, searching archives and raising awareness and funds to complete that 10-year project. That, in and of itself, is a legacy.

Speaking of legacies, Jere is the son of Carl Lundholm, who was the longest standing athletics director (1939-63) in UNH history and someone who was instrumental in bringing UNH athletics into the 'modern' era. Jere and I would often reflect on "What would Carl think?" when there were exceptional accomplishments or new initiatives, such as the building of Wildcat Stadium.

So the passing of Jere Lundholm truly is the end of an era. Thank you, Jere, for everything you stood for and how you represented this fine institution. Forever a Wildcat.
