Service Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week; Madelyn Soderquist and Brooks Bentley

DURHAM, N.H. - Freshman Madelyn Soderquist (Woburn, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team and senior Brooks Bentley (Venice, Fla.) of the UNH football team were named Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Oct.5.

Madelyn helped the Wildcats to a 2-0 weekend at LIU, contributing to both victories. In the Oct. 2 win, she recorded her first collegiate goal and first assist, putting together her first multi-point game of her collegiate career. She fired a shot through traffic from the left faceoff circle for her first collegiate goal before later adding an assist.

Madelyn also contributed to UNH's 3-0 victory over LIU on Oct. 3, helping the Wildcats complete the weekend sweep. She had two assists for a back-to-back multipoint game.

She was honored as the Pro Ambitions co-Rookie of the Week by Hockey East on Monday, Oct. 5.

The Wildcats open both their conference schedule and their home slate on Friday, Oct. 9, as they battle with Boston University (0-2-0, 0-0-0 HEA) with a 6pm puck drop at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.

Brooks helped lead the Wildcats to a 30-23 victory over Elon in Saturday's Oct. 3 afternoon Homecoming game at Wildcat Stadium. The senior quarterback threw for a season-high 296 yards and two touchdowns, completing 26 of 34 passes in the afternoon.

Brooks threw touchdown passes of 27 and 15 yards in the victory, helping UNH secure the seven-point win.

New Hampshire football returns to action Oct. 10 (12pm) at North Carolina A&T. The Wildcats' next home game is Family Weekend on Oct. 17 (1pm) against Monmouth University. Click here to buy tickets or e-mail unh.tickets@unh.edu or call (603) 862-4000.
