
Boutilier Earns Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Award

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Redshirt junior goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) of the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Boutilier wins the award for the second time this season and ninth time in her Wildcat career. It also marks her third Hockey East weekly honor of the season.
She stopped 52 of 57 shots (.912 save%; 2.54 GAA) in the weekend split with No. 10 Providence College last weekend. Boutilier notched a 21-save shutout in the 1-0 victory against the Friars last Friday at the Whittemore Center and she followed that up with 31 stops in the loss at Schneider Arena on Saturday. The shutout the fourth of the season for Boutilier and the 11th of her Wildcats' career.
Boutilier had her shutout streak of 183:44, which spanned over five games, snapped early in Saturday's game. The previous time the Wildcats recorded three consecutive shutouts was in the 2010-11 season: Oct. 29 & 30 vs. Niagara University and Nov. 6 vs. Vermont.
She has started 16 of 18 games for UNH this season with a 6-9-1 record, 2.32 GAA and a .919 save percentage. Boutilier has allowed two goals or fewer in nine starts and has posted 30+ saves in five contests.
Boutilier was named to the Watch List for the first-ever national women's hockey Goalie of the Year award last week.
