Wildcats Fall to Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Six different Warriors scored a goal as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Merrimack, 6-2 at Lawler Rink on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Filip Engarås (Stockholm, Sweden) and junior defenseman Ryan Verrier (Reading, Mass.) both posted goals for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fall to 5-13-3 (5-13-3 HE), while the Warriors improve to 4-10-2 (4-10-2 HE).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Logan Drevitch wristed the puck to the top right corner of the net on the power play at 11:11 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the first period.
- Filip Forsmark batted the puck into the net on the power play at 13:31 of the first to extend the Warrior lead to 2-0.
- UNH outshot Merrimack 7-5 in the first period. The Wildcats were 0-3 on the power play as the Warriors went 2-2.
- Merrimack's Chase Gresock one-timed the puck to the bottom of the net on the power play at 16:00 to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead in the second period.
- Merrimack outshot UNH by a 10-7 margin, while the Wildcats went 0-2 on the power play and the Warriors went 1-1.
- Merrimack had a shorthanded odd man rush at 2:04 of the third but were unable to capitalize as Robinson made an outstanding save on Conor Lovett's shot.
- Engarås one-timed a shot from senior forward Kohei Sato (Nishitokyo, Japan) at 8:08 of the third to get the 'Cats on the board, making the score 3-1. Junior defenseman Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.) also notched an assist on the goal.
- Just 1:35 later at 9:43, Verrier wristed a shot from the dot to the top right corner of the net to bring the 'Cats within one goal at 3-2. Junior forwards Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) each posted assists on the goal.
- Max Newton slapped the puck into the net at 10:55 giving the Warriors a 4-2 lead.
- Merrimack's Liam Walsh buried the puck off his own rebound at 12:51 on the power play to extend the Warrior lead to 5-2.
- At 14:11, Ben Brar lifted the puck to find the back of the net for the last goal of the game to give Merrimack a 6-2 advantage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goalie Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.)made 19 saves while recorded 24 to earn the win.
- New Hampshire outshot Merrimack, 26-25.
- The Wildcats went 0-6 on the power play as the Warriors went 4-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Crookshank extended his point streak to five games. He has five goals and six assists for 11 points during this stretch.
